Whilst moving house my original washing machine broke down, so I decided to buy a pre owned one which also broke down. I finally resorted to just sucking up the money and buy a new washing machine which is when I stumbled across this model. It seemed like a great bargain for what it is capable of; 8kg weight capacity, 19 wash settings and an all in 1 washer/dryer combo. Once I had finished plumbing it in it started the wash fine but it wouldn't drain away! So after much stress, despair and phone calls to Hoover it turns out that there was some kind of blocker disc that gets put in some washing machines drain pipe. So my advice to all of you so you don't end up looking as much of a fool as I did is too check that all your pipes do not have miscellaneous discs in them as your machine will not work until it is removed!
As for the washing machine itself it can wash and dry a lot of washing to a high quality. It does not make too much noise and has been very reliable since I first bought it. The control settings are very easy to use and quite user friendly! Despite the whole drain pipe ordeal I am very pleased with my purchase.
When I was looking for a new washing machine I wanted a combined washer dryer for those cold damp winter (or summer) days when you can't put the washing out. I chose this machine as it's a name I trust. Overall it's ok but nothing special.
The blurb says it takes 8kg of washing, which is true but only on some of it's 19 programmes. The others only take 5 kg. There are 2 economical washes - AA40 which washes at 40 degrees and A59 minutes, which washes at 60 degrees. The AA40, however, takes a long time to wash - well over a couple of hours. There are shorter programmes like the A59 and a 29 minute programme as well as a 44 minute cycle. There are also cycles for heavy duty soiling as well as delicate items. When doing a lot of washing it's much quicker to use these shorter programmes. There are also settings for low heat or high heat if you just want to use the dryer.
The dryer has several setting including store dry and iron dry as well as 30 minute and 60 minute cycles. This can be set seperately to run alone or it can be set to turn on automatically at the end of the wash cycle.
With this machine you are able to delay the cycle for 3, 6 and 9 hours by pressing the delay start button - useful if you have cheap electricity at night. There are also buttons for time saver, stain blast and sensitive care.
The machine is about 80cm high, 58cm wide and 59cm deep.
The downsides to this machine are that fabric conditioner congeals in the dispenser drawer so it needs to be removed and cleaned regularly and the filter needs cleaning at least monthly. The filter is situated at the base of the machine and is quite fiddly as it means removing the kick board, unscrewing the filter which is very near the floor and putting something underneath to collect the water. It can take ages to drain the water off before pulling the whole filter out and cleaning it (which can be a very smelly job). I've found the best way to do it is use a baby's bottle brush. If you forget to clean the filter the machine will stop without warning in mid cycle.
Over all it's ok but I'd probably not buy the same machine again.
I've come back to edit this review as I have since got rid of this machine due to poor performance. In the review I said cleaning is a nightmare - the filter on this machine needs cleaning at least every couple of weeks and is a pain. You have to take the bottom kickboard off then open the filter compartment, which involves kneeling on the floor and bending yourself down to nearly having your head on the floor so you can reach it. When you open the filter compartment make sure you have a bowl and a very shallow container ready as water pours out of the filter compartment but it's too close to the floor to get most containers under it to get the water. Be prepared for a wet, smelly floor. It can take several minutes to sort out but it can also take a lot longer depending on when you last cleaned the filter. I was sat there for 20 minutes once going through all this palava. If you forget to clean the filter the machine will stop mid cycle and you then spend ages trying to sort it so you can empty the machine before you then can clean the filter.
To be honest, if you're looking for a washer dryer then give this one a wide berth. It does have some good points but the bad points far outweigh them.
