Advantages: A good wash no matter what temperature
Disadvantages: Door locks, time of cycle wise it can be temperamental
I had this washing the Hoover HNWL7146 washing machine/dryer in my house in my second year at university. It came with the house so i don't really know how much it cost but it was an extremely good washing machine for a year. It was run around 20 times per week as we had 8 people using it to both wash and dry their clothes. As you can imagine being a student, the amount of dirty clothes per wash is roughly a bedroom floors worth and the hoover dealt with them brilliantly.
It has no digital display but a dial instead which has 15 different programmes to choose from, even though most people will only ever use one or two. You can wash at 90 degrees all the way down to 30 degrees depending on what type of material you are putting in to be washed. I used the 30 degree wash as i was never confident of what could be washed at high temperatures and it gave clean clothes every time. The powder tray seems fairly flimsy but easy to clean and has a tray for softener should you want to use that instead of placing it on top of clothes in the drum. In terms of size, the specifications say that it can take up to 6kg but that is wet weight, not dry, so bear that in mind. It can do 1400 revs/minute and so gets rid of excess water fairly swiftly but makes quite a bit of racket in the process.
On average the time the machine took to complete a wash on thirty degrees was around an hour and a half, but for some reason it can sometimes be longer or shorter, the machine can be temperamental in terms of time. However it always does a good wash. For the drying cycle this takes around 50 minutes for an average load and sometimes you have to do a second run because too many clothes have been put in to dry at once.
The door locks whilst washing/drying and you have to wait a few minutes for it to release a lock before you can open it which is frustrating if you are in a rush. It has a pause/stop button but this has never worked for me, not sure if that is a common problem with this machine.
Summary: A functional machine which provides a good service
