      Do not buy hotpoint

To sum it all up, I paif £469 for this washer dryer and after 18 months it broke! Not just a small repair, the control circuit board needed replacing and the average price was £160. This washer dryer only has a 12 month guarantee and after that Hotpoint do not want to know! If it wasn't for that I would of given a good review but needed to get that off my chest!

The washer dryer itself is really simple to use. There's a pull out drawer to the top left with a space on the left for fabric conditioner and on the right for washing liquid. There was 13 different washing functions eg wool, quick wash, colours at 40 degrees, colorus at 60 degrees, silk, etc on the main dial and 2 buttons so you can pick the temperature 30-90 degrees it washes at and also the temperature you want it drying to eg cupboard dry. There is a start button which doubles as a pause button.

Although it comes with a straight forward manual, you only need to glance at it once to learn what the different washing settings are and then your away. Its very straight forward to use.

The machne itself is a dark grey/silver with an even darker grey trim to the top, bottom and drum. It looks very attractive well compared ot your bog standard white machines. Its your average size and looks good with the rest of my chrome appliances. It is very sturdy and felt like good quality. There is a leaflet inside the washer or packaging which explains how to register online or over the phone which I would recommend doing immediately. If you are determine to buy a Hotpoint then buying an extended guarantee is a must. Only wish I had done it at the time but I thought paying almost £500 meant I was buying quality.

My main issue is the fact that it lasted 18 months. Hotpoint and Comet aren't interested after that and say I should of bought the 3 year guarantee for £170. Perhaps I was naive thinking my first washer would last longer than a year. I was told they were reliable and last from 3-5 years but now I find not. I researched my problem and found a lot of Hotpoints did the same.

A good washer dryer, i would reccommend

I went with Hotpoint for my kitchen appliances as they are a well known reliable company, with a range of products in different categories.

I bought my Hotpoint WDF740 in white from Wilkinsons Direct Plus, as it was on offer for £299 managers special deal of the week- with free delivery!

Normally the price of these washers can be anything from £300-£520. In Comet it is £399 online and instore it is £519, £356 Appliance World online, £536 in Homebase, Dixons online £382, £399 in Currys online or £519 in store. I could go on with stores that sell this product but I think you get the jist that all the deals are online and can range in price in the hundreds!

About the Washer Dryer Hotpoint WDF740 Aquarius+ :
      Spin Speed: 1400 rpm
      Wash Performance Grade: A
      Energy Efficiency Grade: B
      Wash Load: 7Kg
      Drying Load: 5Kg
Digital Display of Start Time & End Time.

There are 12 settings to choose from when your putting your load in, and then a seperate selection on whether its: Slow Spin, Mini Load, Super Spin, Delay Start.

I find that it washes fine, the only disadvantage really is the drying time, you can choose whether you want 40 minutes of dring, 60 minutes, 100 minutes, ready to iron or ready to hang in wardrobe- this can take up to 2 and half hours!

There is a pull out on the left, similar to other washers, where you put the fabric softner, and powder if you use it, like me I use gel or liquitabs that you put in with your load.

One more thing that im not happy with it, is the rubber band in the washer asit collects all the fluff from towels etc, and the only way I have been able to remove it is wth a baby wipe, i wish there was something you could use to collect the fluff rather from the rubber band
