I have had an Indesit WDE12 for 2 years now and have found it to be a good Washer/Drier in most of its aspects. I do not use all of the selections available, doing a white and light wash, then a dark wash, mostly at setting 4 = 40 Degrees. I do like the ability it gives to change the temperature etc to suit and not being stuck with a number of fixed programmes. It does not vibrate excessively in use nor is it too noisy. The timer feature is handy if one is away from home early and wants a washing to begin at say 8.00am . I have not found that it uses any less detergent than its older predecessors such as the second hand Hotpoint before, still two tablets for a large wash and one for a small laundry. So far it has not torn any of my clothing which coild be problem with my old machine. My only criticism is the inordinately long drying cycle. This is I feel caused by the process of the spun but still damp washing being then wet again by the machine before it is spun in the drier. In a stand alone Tumble Dryer the damp washing is simply spun in the heated drum until it is dry. A complete wash with drying can thus take 4.5 hours so no use if you want to wash some clothing to wear when you go out two hours later. Another small problem I have found is the drain tube blocking too easily. I have modified mine to remove the internal plastic struts at the end where it enters the drain as this was where threads, fluff etc caught up. I would recommend this Machine but feel it would benefit from having a simple, quicker drying option and a wider outlet hose less likely to clog or modified as I have done.
The machine looks good, is quiet, and does exactly what it says on the box. I use half the soap and conditioner and the wash is better than my old zannussi. It doesn't dance when it spins, it has a wool mark gold award (ok to machine wash hand wash items) and my only complaint is if the drier is being used, you can't give it a full wash load. Since I live alone it doesn't bother me that much. The wash cycle for the A class at 40 degrees is LONG. Time enough to bath, do the shopping, paint the house, service the car... wash and dry is 4.5 hours. But - it doesn't need me to be there and I come back to clean dry laundry - word of warning - don't dry your shirts - only the minimum dry is needed then hang them or the crease don't even iron out! Oh, the timer is great - I can only do laundry chores at certain times - but I can set it up and set the delay so it comes on early morning or whenecer... very convenient in a flat. The LCD display and mode buttons are simple to use and the whole issue is very straight forward. Highly recommended. Pound for pound brilliant value.
