Hotpoint Aquarius WD420 ... another reviewer advising against buying this machine. They might as well have delivered it straight to the tip. We got this on special offer from comet at half the retail price. At the time we thought we d found a bargain as it seemed to have everything we needed - including cycles for delicates and hand wash only items We d had it about a week when the electrics went. It took comet 2 weeks to send out an engineer to look at it. The engineer said that we were very lucky not to be standing near it at the time, because the faulty electronics would have killed us as they blew. We decided to return it to the shop ourselves. Bosch Classixx WVF 2402 ... here is a washing machine that is easy to operate. There are basically three steps: 1) Set the temperature you require for the wash with the first dial. 2) Set the drying time with the second dial, which is labelled in minutes. 3) Set the type of wash you want. The options are basically Long/Short/Wool and so on... None of this unfathomable list of different types (A-Z listings) or digital settings to mess with and ruin your clothes. Simple, clear and quick. One of the best systems I have seen in all the shops I looked at. The wash and dryer quality is very good, the noise level is also fairly good for most of a cycle. Hoover HNWL7146 ... my tumble dryer packed up, as it would happen it was roughly the same time that my washing machine packed up. It never rains but it pours! Well, I ve always been against the idea of a combined washer/dryer as opposed to a separate washer and dryer. Two main reasons... 1 - If you have a washer/dryer and it breaks, then you re stuck without a washer or a dryer (mind you, if the washer is broken there s not much point in having a dryer anyway!) 2 - I wash a LOT. So when the first load of washing is finished I want to be able to put another load of washing in straight away - and not have to wait an hour or whatever while the first load goes through the drying cycle...
