AEG L16830 ... got an AEG L16830 delivered earlier this morning. It comes in a big, white, box with a few buttons and one knob. Styling-wise, you know it is a washing machine! There are about 10 programs - a reasonable balance between functionality and simplicity. Its very quiet, has good ratings for economy and performance. The cycles are not particularly quick. A normal wash takes ~ 2 hours, or 1 hour if you use the time saver button. There is a countdown timer that shows how long is left to run. This is reasoably accurate for a real wash. On the first run with an empty load, it skipped through some bits more quickly than the original quoted time. The drum takes 7kg of was... AEG Oko Lavamat 50430 ... went and an hour or so later I realised that the machine had stopped working leaving me with a machine load full of sodden flanelette sheets. Noooo. That was the end of our trusty washing machine. It had lasted over the years to wash hubby s stuff, then mine and his, then adding in the washing for kiddies 1, 2, 3, 4. Fifteen years is a pretty good life for a washer so I decided I wanted a new AEG in the hope it would live as long as the last. Onto the net we went and searched for the cheapest AEG washing machine. AEG Oko Lavamat 50430 ... a Lavamat machine 3 yrs ago. After 2 1/2 years, heard funny noises but it still worked...busy lives...did not get it looked at. When it stopped working, called local engineer who said it was beyond repair. It was out of it s guarantee. Resigned to the fact that had to get a new one. I was a bit peeved that it had not lasted that long. So impulsivley one afternoon I rang AEG to tell them what I thought about their machine, I felt better, even though I knew it would not get me anywhere.
