Advantages: does the job, cost me nothing
Disadvantages: its getting old (like me)
Creda tumble drier Auto dry 66 I had to put some clothes in my tumble drier today as it was wet outside .Had to shut the door several times before it started this is normal. I though I would tell you about my tumble drier, It was given to me about14 years ago by my next door neighbour it was not new then she had just moved in and was given it by her sister (not new) until she bought herself a new one .Her sister had been using it for several years, so all in all I reckon it must be about 20 years old!(at least) The tumble drier is a Creda auto dry 66 I looked on the creda web site I do not think they make it any more. I cannot find any information on it so all I can tell you is from my experience. It is a small tumble drier not taking a full load of washing takes about 1 sheet before it is full it has 1 speed you can set the time you wish it to tumble for, by turning a dial. It has two heat settings hot and cold It is a front loader. Colour mine is chipped white with a little rust red. I position mine in the utility room where it has an airbrick in the wall to let the water vapour out As of yet it has never gone wrong has needed no repairs. The door has to be shut for the tumble drying to start I think the connection must be loose as it doesn?t always start and I have to open and shut the door a few times but over all its good for me. I do not want or need a big tumble drier preferring to dry things outside I only use it when I have to but may be when we get out kitchen extended and sorted next years I will buy myself a new tumble drier on the performance and reliability of this one I shall possibly but a creda. Thanks for reading just thought I would tell you how good my little creda is

- 03/11/02 Good review.
We bought one of these in 1975. It cost £45. We gave it to my Mum in 1983 because we needed a larger 9lb model to cope with three children under 5 (!!!).
When my Mum died in 1995, my sister took it. She has two children and still has it. I fitted a new drive belt in 1990, but apart from that - no problems.
The replacement (Reverse-air) recently broke its hinge, but a glob of Araldite and an old Stnaley knife blade (for strengthening) saved the cost of £8 for a new one.
They don't make them like this any more (unfortunately). |

- 24/10/02 I have a Creda tumble dryer. Although I rarely use it, it is a very handy machine. |
