Advantages: Massive drum and washes even the most delicate item
Disadvantages: Has been known to pack up when you're about to use it
My Dyson CR01 Contrarotator cost me an absolute fortune when I bought it. It cost me virtually £1000, but I have had it for about eight years now and I'm very pleased to say it's still going strong.
The action of the machine makes sure my clothes get washed throughly as the clothes head off in two directions at one time - contrarotation you see lol. This isn't a great scenario for underwired bras, but then I suppose I should wash them on the handwash setting.
I love the fact that there are so many different settings for the machine. There are 6 different types of washes from Cotton to Quilt (yes, you can actually wash a quilt in this machine, it's so large), temperatures ranging from 20 to 85 degrees, four different spin speeds and three different soil types (as in how soiled your clothes are). You can mix and match the whole lot of them - it's great.
There's a handwash cycle too which means I have used this machine to wash my work suits (they are supposed to be dry cleaned) and the Dyson has always taken good care of them. Saves a fortune in dry cleaning. Hand wash is so handy as I don't even wash woollen items by hand anymore, it's all done in the Dyson.
There's a cancel button too which means if you start the wash and then realise you've dropped a sock, you can cancel the programme (you have to do this quickly - within about 30 seconds), open the door within about 5 seconds, throw your sock in and hit start again.
There's also a child lock on the door and Dyson have been forward thinking enough to put their phone number on the inside of the door, so if you do have any problems you don't have to search for the number.
The size of the drum has to be seen to be believed. As I mentioned earlier, you can fit a double quilt in there and wash it. UNBELIEVABLE.
The machine hasn't been completely without it's problems though. It has stopped working maybe 5 times over the years, but Dyson have not once charged me any fee to come out. Even when it was out of warranty. The service engineer explained that if the problem was Dyson's (and not me using it for washing inappropriate items and abusing it) they would always do a repair foc.
I've never had any problems with the Dyson call centre itself and have always found them helpful and courteous.
All in all, even with the breakdowns, I give it 10/10
Summary: I actually wouldn't be without it. It's brilliant

- 14/05/09 Hi Nar2,
Thank you for your message.
It's the first review I have ever written so I really appreciate you taking the time to comment on it.
I will certainley take on board your suggestion about spacing the review out to make it easier to read.
But as far as my Dyson is concerned, I hope it last me another 8 years - at least - for I will be sad when it dies ;-) |
