Got this washing machine through Currys and had it around about 3 months now, Got to say I'm pleased overall with its performance. Its got a fantastic Half hour setting for a quick wash and 10 other presets for different wash types for different materials and lengths.
However I wouldn't personally recommend the quick wash for anything other than day to day clothes because If you have something that's been sitting around for a while and smelling musty, you'll want to put it on a 'proper' wash to clean it through properly which will take just over 2 hours.
Our machine says it will take a 7Kg load for some reason the spec says 6kg so maybe they changed that slightly, Im not sure but it looks identical to the Picture they have put up. ours has also a 1400 speed spin and on full whack it does get pretty noisy enough for us to turn up the TV anyway.
The 7KG wash drum does us fine, would be nice for a bigger one but that's just luxury, we are a family of 4 and does us well. Seems quite economic to run, I'm sure in Currys it was A or A+ efficiency rating so no problems there.
No other problems to report about it, just the noise factor could get irritating if you have more than one wash to do in one night, probably best to go out while its on during the day but I wouldn't risk putting ours on overnight at the risk of waking the kids or next doors kids up.
Has a little pocket which could be a potential mould/gunk pit as it gets older, I will be making sure it goes on a 90 degree wash every now and then and leaving the door open to prevent this happening. Ours cost £250 I think back in November 09
We brought this washing machine because it was in stock and we could collect that day. Our washing machine had finally ceased to work.
I could go into lots of details such as the 11 wash presets, the 6kg load capacity, the different spin cycles or tell you its a front loader, i am sure you could tell that from the picture though.
The machine was so simple to install that anyone that can push in a 3 pin plug and tighten up a plastic nut on a water pipe can do with ease. The silver colour of our machine would fit in with any modern kitchen design. If only we had a modern kitchen.........
We have found this machine to be a great washing machine. Ours must do on an average day between 2 - 3 loads. One problem we had with the machine when we first got it was that it would not spin properly. We called out the engineer and he informed us that to fully spin it has to have a complete load in it. It would have helped if they had included this in the booklet.
Do not worry though if you do not have a full load, just use the quick wash setting which takes about 30 minutes and this will spin single items on a full spin. Some of the preset washing setting do seem to take a long time to wash the clothes. Some can take as long as 2 hours 30 minutes.
The way round this is to set it on fabrics and just increase the water temperature to 50 degrees and the spin cycle to 1200. This setting will wash a load in 1 hour 35 minutes.
The draw backs to the settings is that you only have 2 spin settings 1000 and 1200. Being able to override the automatic heat of the water is a godsend with soiled clothes.
The machine has a finished wash alert. So when you first use the machine if you hear a beeping sound coming from your kitchen a couple of hours later, do not worry, its your machine telling you its ready to be emptied.
Whichever setting we have used it on to wash, the clothes have always come out clean and thoroughly washed. If you are on a budget and looking around to replace your washer this is a worthwhile investment. It is easy to use and the only thing you have to remember is to set the spin speed.
When you switch on the machine you have to choose the setting, you then press start and set the heat you want to wash at, then press start again to set the spin cycle and then press start to commence the cycle. It sounds more involved than it actually is.
The machine also has an economy setting and a setting where it can give a double rinse. The heat and spin cycle settings show up on the lcd display so you can easily see what you have set. Also the booklet that comes with the machine gives you a list of error codes that may show up on the lcd display if there is a problem, and tells you what these codes mean.
When in use the machine is not that noisy, but obviously this does increase slightly when it spins. Our dinning room is right next to the kitchen and when the adjoining door is closed we can not hear the machine when its in use.
This is very easy to keep clean and a wipe with a damp cloth is all thats needed to wipe any marks or stains off it. We have had this machine for 12 months and we have had no problems with it at all.
I would certainly buy other appliances made by Haier in the future.
We bought this machine 3 months ago; we'd had it around two weeks when we had a slight problem with the machine not taking in fabric softener. I rang the warranty department and they came to us the next day, he changed the circuit board and said it could've been a rouge machine as they were new. He told us if that didn't work we could have a new machine to replace it and just to ring back and let them know. He was very helpful and polite. The machine has been absolutely fine since, he also advised us to thin the fabric softener with a little warm water in the drawer before using it. This seems to have helped also. I was very impressed with the quick call out response and the peace of mind with knowing it would've been replaced without having to argue with someone over the phone for hours.
The programmes on the machine are great and plenty of them. A little confusing at first and the instruction manual is quite difficult to understand. But once you've had a good read and got used to the machine its actually pretty straight forward to use. You can change the load size, temperature and spin speed which all helps save time and electricity.
It was one of the cheapest around yet also the highest spec with fast spin speed and an A rating on energy efficiency. Just one slightly annoying thing is the intermitant beeping noise it makes, untill you switch it off, to tell you the cycle has finished, but unless you do your washing at night this shouldn't really be a problem. I'm not so sure the neighbours would agree when I leave it on and go out shopping though, oops.
purchased an HW-C1260TVE-U october 07. clothes always come out very wet despite spin. always had roblems closing the door and error would flash up seconds into the wash. Started to make a horrific noise last night but the scariest part was the mini lightning display within the drum
Got this washing machine in july last year, lasted 3 months and kept saying unbalanced and would not spin! also kept making a knocking noise, had about 3 engeineers our, one of whom replaced the whole drum, 2 days later same thing is happening again! Managed to get a replacement but lo and behold a month later the knocking noise and unbalnced sign is back with revenge!I do not recommend this washer to anyone, no one deserves such failure! And for comet themselves well ...... all i can say is thier staff are as just as unreliable as the product!!!
I purchased this washing machine purely because it was in stock at our local Comet, and they could deliver quickly. (Our old machine decided to stop working)
I am so glad I did. It copes remarkably well considering it is expected to wash up to 3 loads a day. It is so easy to use, and the LCD panel is great at keeping you informed of what temperature setting it is on, spin speed, and how long is left on the wash program.
With the 6kg weight capacity as well, you can't ask for much more.
I do find that some days it has issues with errors, but I think that may be more to do with the fact that our water pipe is blocked. Also, the instruction manual provides you with a list of the error codes, and what you can do to fix them.
I would recommend this machine to anyone, it is so reasonably priced, easy to use, it also has so many options for different wash cycles, and is very quiet when it runs too.
It is also an Energy A rating, which is even more cost effective! Have persuaded my mother in law to buy one now!
I had never heard of hier previously but the price was good for the features it offered. Although this is the second one we have had i still like it and think i would buy it again if i had the choice again. The first one lasted 6 months and then kept on switching off through out the cycle but looking back on this it was a safety feature asit was over heating so im really glad it kept cutting out instead of catching the house on fire! I really like the fact that in all the programme (and it got them all) you can then go on to choose the temperature and spin speed and can also choose the load size. I find it gives good results and really does spin clothes out well even towels. It has a good size drum and is quiet when running. The only negative is when it has finished it beeps to let you know every so often so if you put it on before bed it beeps intermittently all throught the night.
The very smart looking white unit, which the very kind Argos man had just delivered, was something my wife had been waiting on for ages. What with car MOT and repairs and god knows what else the funds just simply were not available for a new washing machine, and other priorities were dealt with first. So when the funding became available you can imagine how relieved my wife was to finally have a washing machine again. The old one god bless it's little old motor had served us very well and my wife had pondered seriously with the idea of getting one of the same manufacturer's newer model.
However it was an article in a magazine that was highlighting up and coming electronics company Haier that swayed both her and I towards one of their models. Haier are a Chinese company and I suppose the best comparison would be saying they were the Chinese equivalent of JVC or Philips. They make various electrical items, but mostly they concentrate on washers, fridges, and TV's. Their huge reputation preceded them and being one of the most popular electronic retailers in China, they are currently making huge endeavours to break into other markets especially USA and Europe. They have just signed a massive deal with the American NBA in which they will receive a huge amount of advertising on their billboards and trackside advertising boards.
After we ordered it I came across some reviews, which really put me off, but the purchase had been made and time would tell. To me it just looks like any other washing machine and is pretty much the same size as our old one. The one thing I have noticed is that it is really quiet, especially on the spin cycle..................I'm so used to the old one chugging away in the background that it had become a distant chug. The controls are man proof; well they have been up until now that is. Just turn the dial to one of the settings listed to the left of the control know they range from Prewash, Cotton, Synthetics, Wool, Cashmere, Silk, Quick Wash, Rinse, Spin, and Drain. Each has a green light above it, which lights up when selected. Beneath the control knob is the main Power On/Off button, which I do believe needs no introduction. Directly to its left are a series of 4 buttons Delay to delay a program for a selected period. Temp to select a temperature for a program.............NOT all programs can have their temperature changed. Spin this button changes the spin speed, but I never use it cause I just always have it on full spin, because I know no different. The last button in the list is the one nearest the Power button and is the start/Pause button, which again needs no introduction I hope.
In order to use any of the buttons you need to know what the settings are, and here a small 2-inch wide by about 1-inch high digital display shows the required info for each button press. So the basis explained and tested it was time for the first wash and I was frankly expecting a disaster after reading some reviews. I guess this time I got lucky cause we've had it a while now and have had no problems apart from deciphering parts of the instructions on initial set up. Three bolts had to be removed and the instructions were to say the least a little vague. Even though there were three blatantly obvious bolts, they were not precisely where the instructions said so be deliberated a while and eventually took a gamble on the obvious ones and we were right. The machine cost £169 from Argos but is available in other stores like Comet and Currys. As I said I read some very negative reviews, but have myself had no problems, If the problems had been a serious as some other reviews indicated then I do believe that the three stores mentioned would have had to do something, and perhaps they did. All in all though I'm quite chuffed and I haven't heard a word of complaint from she who truly understands such equipment. It also plays a nice little tune when finished, but I have noticed that the last minute of any cycle takes ages, so here I'm guessing this has all to do with the safety lock mechanism for the door. All in all though for the money it's a pretty good machine, which does a mighty fine job on all fronts.
had 2 replacements drum problems in all now comet wont replace as it is over 28 days old, they insist on repair dont buy worst washing machine weve ever had. comets atitude not much better
this is one of the worst machnes i have ever owned. It wont spin the clothes dry. i bought this machine as i thought it was a bargain at £199.99 and it had a 1400 rpm spin. I had a replacement machine after 1 day as thats all the other one lasted for. 8 days later of many calls to comet's call centre and being passed around the country to people who dont seem to know how to help me and having the engineer out several times, the enginer will be coming to have a look at another replacement they sent me that wont spin either. I dont want it repairing i will be taking it back to comet for a full refund and a different machine. do not buy this machine its awful and thats being nice.
we got a Haier HW-C1260TVE 2 weeks ago from Comet, worked great the first time, good spin.second time the clothes came out wet, thought maybe the spin was turned off, tried the spin setting, no spin, did another wash full load spun ok, another wash, did`nt spin, tried just a spin with an empty drum (can`t be unbalanced with an empty drum), no spin. another wash, full load, clothes came out p***ed through. ran a search about these washers on the internet, guess what? no spin, fault with spin, umb sensor too sensitive, reports of delivery men saying they will call back next week to pick it up again, stories of lots of returns, mine`s going back on tuesday
Terrible machine, doesnt spin, engineer out, admitted problem with the boards, replaced boards, still not working, Comet aftercare terrible, passed to so many different people, problem getting exchange am having to pay more for another one, even though got this machine due to my budget, not happy with Comet at all,
This washer appeared to be a great bargain. Bought it on sale new. I absolutely hate it. The spin cycle does not work. Had a repair person out twice as the error indicator keeps saying it is unbalanced and to no avail it refused to spin. Because it was from China I was leary and I am glad I bought a warranty as I would never recommend it to anyone. The manual is limited and does not explain much. When the washer errors the manual tells you what the error means but tells you nothing as to what to do about it. Big complaints about the unbalance problem with these washers, wish I knew before I wasted my money on one.
I bought this washing machine as a second choice originally and although i had never heard of the make before i thought i would chance it!
I have been very happy with it, it is an A rated washing machine and has many pre set washes programmed in.
On each pre set wash you can change the temperature and spin type by using the digital display which is not as hard as it sounds! This enables you to be even more energy efficient if you wish.
As you go through your choice of washes it displays how long the cycle is. Once you have chosen one and started the cycle it counts down on the display so you know exactly how long is left without having to wait around hoping it won't take too much longer!!
Once the wash has finished it beeps at you which i find useful as it reminds me to empty it and put another load in.
I also found it surprisingly quiet compared to others i have owned in the past. On the whole i have been very satisfied with this washing machine.
The Haier HW-C1260TVE Front Load Washer has a capacity of 13.23 cu / ft / Short name: Haier HW-C1260TVE
