The Hoover DYN 10146PG8 is a large 10kg capacity washing machine.
Our 11 year old Bosch washing machine finally died and it was time to replace it. We usually buy Bosch but nothing from their range really caught our eye this time. This Hoover machine had everything we wanted and a few handy extras they we had not really considered.
At 85x60x64cm it was the same width but slightly taller than our previous machine. Not enough to cause any fit problems though as there had previously bee a quite large gap above the other one. It is a bright white machine with silver door trim.
This machine takes 10kg of washing.
It spins up to 1400rpm and the spin is adjustable in each cycle with different defaults that can be tweaked up or down.
This machine uses something called 8 pulse technology which delivers premixed water & detergent into the laundry. It seems to wash well, whether this technology is better than others is hard to tell in normal home usage.
This model has an inverter motor rather than the normal motor with brushes. This makes it extremely quiet. The volume as the water fills is about the same as normal but the spin function and general background noise is so quiet it's hard to believe.
The energy rating of the machine is A+++ and it has a function that weighs the machine and adjusts the cycle appropriately to match the quantity of laundry you are doing.
There are a large range of wash types, All in One which is for mixed loads, Cotton, Synthetic, All baby, Duvet (will fit a single duvet, Delicate, Wool and many more and they can all be tweaked. There are also three rapid wash modes. Most of the cycles run at low temperatures (you can tweak this) with the technology supposedly allowing it to clean properly. It does seem to. The cycles seem longer than on our previous machine
The machine has a huge lcd display telling you what is going on. It tells you lots of information like the time left in the cycle, what is currently going on, and options for the surrounding buttons.
The sheer number of options is quite daunting at first.
One last really good function is the timer delay. You can set the machine to run at the time of day when your electricity is the cheapest.
The price for the machine is in the £400 to £550 range so definitely worth shopping around as you can make significant savings.
I recommend this machine for a larger family as it really has everything you could possibly need and the fact it is so quiet is wonderful.
