Machine can drive U round the bend! (Hoover Quattro 1300)

Advantages: Good washes, timer to programme end, optional seperate spin functions

Disadvantages: floods with continual use of washing powder, unable to cancel programmes as instructed, dispenser drawer unfunctional

Purchased my Hoover Quattro system washing machine approximately two and half years ago costing approx £400 at the time.

I prefered, at that time to use washing power in my washing machine, until it started flooding out of the dispenser drawer.

Called out the repair man who explained that the new design feature on this model was a U type bend to the machine via the dispenser draw, this avoids odours from the washing machine been dispersed. He explained that the U bend contained water and if a user were not to use the 90 degree washes the powder was getting clogged in the U bend and causing the machine to flood, no remedy was available other than to run a 90 degree wash every few washes, or not use washing powder. Also, he informed me to remove blockages the machine had to be tipped forward and boiling water pored into the dispenser to dissolve the powder.

I now use washing liquid in the dispenser draw, aviods bleaching of clothes.

Since the early days I've had a new programme fitted to the machine after it got stuck on a cycle and tripped the downstairs sockets, 2 new door, a rubber seal, and a new dispenser draw, the old one didn't dispense conditioner as it should, have a better design now!

This apart the washer works fine, although I do find it difficult to cancel a programme if set, just won't cancel so I have to proceed with the programme.

In my opinion whilst the wash itself is good there are too many design faults on the machine and no-one is able to fix them. I don't enjoy having to use liquid washing liquid but am unable to use any alternative. Luckily, I purchased the 5 year guarantee with my machine, so this solves repair costs. I did contact Hoover regarding this matter but to no avail. As a long time purchaser of Hoover laundry products I seriously will be considering a new manufacturer next time, and would not recommednt this machine to anyone else.
