I bought this tumble dryer from a local outlet. We wanted a heavy duty load machine and it appeared to fulfill our requirements. After just 8 months, the drum bearings failed. The machine made awful noises and eventually seized up altogether. On calling out a repairman under the guarantee, we had the drum replaced and were told that this subsequent drum was not under the original guarantee. As I wasn't home at the time, I assumed it was an isolated fault. However, on 14th december 2002, again, the drum ceased to revolve. I enquired as to the price of a spares replacement and was told the cost would be in the region of £95. Having paid £149 for ... Read the complete review

I bought this tumble drier in January 2003. It worked well for the first year. As luck would have it, the years guarantee had just run out when it stopped producing warm/hot air. I had to call in the repair man, a new thermostat set me back £60. I thought that would be it for a while as my old tumble drier had served me well for many years (not a hoover) After another six months, I was unable to turn the machine on, there was no way that on switch was going to stay in. I bought the tumble dryer in April 2001 and the machine intially worked very well. Unfortunately in Dec 02 the machine started to make a terrible scraping noise as if metal was touching metal. Since the warranty had run out some 8 months previous, I decided to have a look inside the machine as I suspected the bearings to be the problem. When I removed the drum, I was amazed to find the rear of the drum had been held in place by a rectangular bracket which appeared to be made out of a hard plastic. The spindle coming out of the rear of the drum slotted into a hole in the bracket. The bracket appears to have melted away at the bottom with the result ... Read the complete review

The Hoover TV30 drier came with our new (rented) flat, and it was the first time we've ever had our own tumble drier. So, all was well for the first year. The drier does a good job of getting clothes dry, it's a great convenience, and we were glad to have it. The clothes come out still smelling fairly fresh, and the drier is easy to use -- turn the dial, push the button, done. On the down side, it doesn't have any extra-special features, it's not exactly pretty to look at, and the filter seems to require emptying often (although as this is our first drier I don't have any basis for comparison, but it filled up in just over a week in a house of 3 ...
