Like all the other reveiws I can confirm that this is probably the worst washing machine ever. I've had the same problems as other users. The engineer has just left after trying 5 times to reprogram the machine without success, stating that there is nothing more they can do but write the machine off. This non repair has taken 5 weeks of not working to be written off. Hotpoint first sent the wrong bits, then the wrong bits again, now after 5 attempts to program the PCB they've had to admit defeat. I would urge anybody considering purchasing this machine to save they're money, no matter how cheap they are being offered it and buy another brand - Beko I'm told is German made and reliable.

This machine IS reliable and very easy to use!!!!! I think alot of people only come on to these websites to review products when something goes wrong!!!! I have owned my machine for 2 years now and have never had a problem with it at all. Its easy to use and has never ruined any of my clothes, leaked water or broken down! How many people do you think actually come on a website to comment on how great a washing machine is when they have had no problems with one and don't need a replacement!?!?! I was going to write a review to counteract the reviews that have already been written.... As up until 9am this morning my washing machine was fine. Owned it 2 years and never had a problem with it. However, this morning I found my kitchen and hallway under water. So now my laminate flooring is wrecked, only recently had it laid. Called a hotpoint engineer, but the money they wanted was crazy, so got a local bloke out who fixed it straight away, replacing the pump. £50 all in. Yep, another reviewer advising against buying this machine. They might as well have delivered it straight to the tip. We got this on special offer from comet at half the retail price. At the time we thought we'd found a bargain as it seemed to have everything we needed - including cycles for delicates and hand wash only items We'd had it about a week when the electrics went. It took comet 2 weeks to send out an engineer to look at it. The engineer said that we were very lucky not to be standing near it at the time, because the faulty electronics would have killed us as they blew. DON'T BUY THIS MACHINE!
I bought one new for £350 and 18 months later it is going in the bin! After 3 months the electronics broke down and it refused to start a new program. It was under warranty so an engineer plugged in a laptop and reset it. Now after 18 months the electronics have broken again and its out of warranty. As its electronics only Hotpoint can repair it. They want to charge £160 to repair with a 1 year warranty. A quick look on the internet and talking to some independent repairmen shows that this is a very unreliable model. So who knows how long it would last after that year! I have decided to bin it and get a Bosch washing machine instead as the dryer function was useless anyway!
