The washing machine grinds to a halt, you look out of the window, rain again. Surprise surprise. 3 kids school uniforms needed for the morning and a not a hope of getting it out on the washing line.... Where would I be without my Hotpoint! Sending the kids to school in soggy socks no doubt. This model is amazing because you do not have to have a great big outlet pipe sticking out of the kitchen window, it has a condenser built into the appliance. This means that it can be put anywhere in the house, very handy if you have a small kitchen - all you need is a plug, no plumbing, simple. There is a high heat option for cottons and a low heat setting for synthetics and acrylics, I dry all types of clothes in it and have had no problems with shrinking/melting/misshaping etc. It has a large drum which will take up to 6kgs of wet washing and dry it in 95 - 120 mins. Cottons 6kgs 95 - 120 mins 5kgs 80 - 90 mins 4kgs 70 - 80 mins 3kgs 55 - 70 mins 2kgs 40 - 55 mins 1kg 30 - 40 mins I find that in general use that washing will dry even quicker than their recommended rates. Synthetics and acrylics need 70 - 90 mins for a maximum 3kg load. The appliance uses a condenser unit to collect the water and a light is displayed when the water reservoir is full and needs to be emptied. Emptying is easy, a plinth simply slides off to reveal the reservoir which can be pulled out with little effort and tipped out into the sink. The only other maintenance needed to be carried out occasionally is clearing out the fluff filter on the reverse side of the door and also the pull-out condenser unit which is easy peasy, the kids enjoy doing this bit! Other good features are the reverse action which ensures even drying of clothes and prevents tangling, and the lovely granite effect worktop.
My mother bought a Hotpoint Aquarius tumble drier last month and I can vouch it is very good value for money. It has a high performance heater plus a cool tumble, which reduces having to iron as much. She has had several different makes in the past, but she says this one is the best she has had. She would recommend this one to anyone looking to buy a new tumble drier, especially if you have children and plenty of washing.
