Hotpoint VTD60 Product recall?? (Hotpoint VTD60G Aquarius Plus Dryer)
Member Name: David Fisher
Advantages: Inexpensive Disadvantages: Dangerous, needs a thermal overload!
The second unit has been delivered this morning. Once installed I put in a small hand towel to check it would work satisfactorily. The same problems arose; slow start up, reluctance to reverse. I checked the drum was free of any obstructions and re-loaded the machine with a pair of socks, a Polo shirt and a small towel, I would estimate the load to weigh less than two kilos. The drum wouldn't move at all initially, so I opened the door and physically moved the drum myself. It appeared very stiff to me and I once again checked for any obstruction, there was none. I closed the door and started it again. After a about a minute it did start to move very slowly but then stopped. I opened the door and noticed that my Polo shirt was stuck between the drum and the chassis. At the same time the rear of the drum was glowing red and had started to scorch the small hand towel at the rear of the drum. So, I now have a shirt ruined at a cost of £65.00 a scorched towel and no confidence in Hotpoint. We will be arranging for this product to be returned and will purchase a Miele product. I fully expect Comet to not only honour their price promise on the item I purchase but also compensate me for my ruined shirt. Summary: Very disappointing experience! Will buy a Miele or a Bosch.
