Maybe I just got a dud (Hotpoint WD440G)

Advantages: Errr...... it`s narrower than most washing machines

Disadvantages: Spends more time broken than working

Was restricted in models of washer/dryer to buy thanks to our genius of a kitchen installer who built a slightly too narrow recess for the machine to go in. The WD440G is a couple of cm narrower than what would seem to be the "standard" machine, so the choice was made. Initial thoughts were quite reasonable, I`m no expert in washing clothes mind, but it semed to do what it should, dirty clothes in, clean, dry clothes out. Then the trouble started; luckily i broke one of my main rules and took out an extended warranty on this, we are now up to 15 engineer visits (the record being 3 in a month), each time the pcb is replaced, along with a variety of other parts. I am also on 1st name terms with the service engineer. Problems have been many and varied, from it just not working with a variety of flashing red "error codes" on the front, the dryer giving up, grating/rattling noises etc. Utterly abysmal machine. They have just agreed to write it off and replace it, although with another Hotpoint :( Hopefully the next one will be better.

Summary: I would never by another Hotpoint through choice based on this machine
