I must admit that when we first bought our Hotpoint WD61 we were quite happy with it. It was a reasonable price for the features it had and seemed to work OK. We didn't have space for a separate washer and dryer so it was useful to have the two in one, although we often line dried to save on electricity costs. However, within the five years we've had it, it has let us down quite badly and so have the service engineers. I have since found someone else I know has had similar problems with her machine, so I don't think it's a one off. When we were running around like mad eejits getting new kit for our house we were looking for one of the most important things for ensureing we don't look like scruffs. A nice washing machine. Key to our decision was that it had to perform well and have good enconomy settings. The Hotpoint washer we went for has more than exceeded our expectations. Washing wuality is A and economy is B which is amongst the best that you can get at any price-range. The look of the unit is very nice indeed. I have been very disappointed by this washer dryer as it has broken down 2 times in the first year! The first time was the timer, the whole thing had to be replaced and the second time it was the belt around the drum had disintegrated. There are only 3 of us so it isn’t as if it is used excessively! The washer dryer it self is a very good model it is simple enough for everyone to understand how to work it, but it also has a few added extras, such as economy wash and extra rinse.
