Hotpoint WD860

I have had this washer-dryer for just over a year now and am quite satisfied with it. It has worked well without any problems and has a good selection of wash programs to suit most needs. The drying function is obviously not as good as a stand alone dryer, but it is quite adequate for us as I prefer to sun (or radiator depending on weather!) dry our clothes in addition anyway. We bought the WD860 washer/dryer last year. The blue display showing time left is great. The main critisism is the lack of a fast wash. I especially chose this machine because it said it had a 'quick' wash of 30 mins. The fact is that the 30 degree wash only has an 800 spin so the washing comes out wet. You then have to put it on to spin which takes a further 25 mins. The fastest complete wash is an hour on 60 degrees. The 40 degree complete wash and spin which most people use all the time takes 1 hour and 25 mins!! This was definitely designed by a man. My old 20 year old machine had a 20 min. wash and spin. If you wanted to spin anything it was 5 mins. Why should it take 25 mins. to spin clothes at 1600 setting.

Hotpoint WD860 Graphite - BEWARE BE VERY AWARE. I have had nothing but problems with my machine. Even upon delivery it didn't work, pcb broke. I purchased mine in Jan '05 and by feb '06 had had 4 major repairs (out of the warranty now, but don't worry as one is covered by our Statutory Rights). So I demanded and received a full refund from the store and was able to dispose or keep the machine, so I kept it . The fault I am having now is flooding on most programmes, therefore I can't or daren't leave the house when the machine's running, very inconvenient.... just hope it doesn't catch fire like others have. Brought this model when it first came out - waited six months for its manufacture. When it did arrive had nothing but problems with it, flooding floor, various technical errors, catching fire, blowing fuses, not drying, not sensor drying, not spinning. Am on my third replacement model of this machine and have practically everything replaced. Only works about 50% of the time. When it does work it is a great machine I brought it for all the extras it does, time delay, sensor drying etc etc. If you are lucky enough to have one which fully works you will not regret it.
