While Hotpoint may be a name you recognise, their customer services is absolutely awful. Don't buy!

We got our washing machine on 17 September 2003. In June 2004 we were doing a normal wash when it started spewing water all over our kitchen. Three 'phone calls to Hotpoint Customer Services and 10 days without a washing machine later and an engineer came out. He said there was nothing wrong, but altered the ingoing water pressure "just in case".

Two weeks later on a Saturday morning and our kitchen and hallway flooded - the water had come from the machine and our brand new carpet was soaking.

Customer Services claim to be open from 8.00am on a Saturday, but it took me until 8.45am to speak to someone. I was promised a call back in 48 hours. On the Tuesday I called again. The same response..I would get a call in 48 hours.

In the end, after four 'phone calls, an engineer came out. He found nothing wrong with the machine. He said he'd write a report recommending an exchange machine and we'd hear from Customer Services.

We heard nothing so I telephoned Customer Services on several occasions, with promises that I'd get a call back. This went on for two weeks, with me making numerous calls to customer services and them giving me a variety of explanations why they didn't have me down for a call back - they didn't have a call log, they didn't have my address etc..

In the end I lost my patience and demanded a new machine - Hotpoint rang me back with a date to exchange my faulty machine for a new one - Friday 30 July between 12.00 and 7.00pm.

I took the day off work and waited...and waited...at 5.50pm I called Customer Services asking if my replacement machine would be delivered - Hotpoint confirmed it would.

It didn't turn up and I am sat on four week' worth of washing.

Hotpoint? I'd never ever buy one of their products again!

As per Yummy's comment - the low rating I've given is because this is a review of Hotpoint's bad customer service as opposed to the Hotpoint WMA32 Aquarius washing machine.

What a shame. I have a hotpoint washer (and fridge/freezer actually) - it leaked slightly at the door when we very first got it (about a year ago) but i think it just needed to settle a bit or something. It's been fine since...fingers crossed!
