What a great washing machine. When I first got this washer I had upgraded from a very basic washer, so I thoughT my pleasure with this washer was down to sheer novelty and I would soon get used to it. 3 years down the road and I am still impressed though.
Admittedly, a washer is a washer and they all look reasonably similar in general appearance. However, my last washer was integrated into the kitchen units so was hidden behind a door (thank goodness as it was a disgusting dirty beige colour!). For this reason I was a little conerned about having a new washer that would be on show for all to see, but I am pleased to say it is a lovely, smart addition to my kitchen/utility room. It is a lovely bright white colour that simply wipes clean; very easy. The dials and drawer are also white so blend in perfectly, with just the writing/numbers in smart black print.
I was so impressed with this. There are 3 dials, the largest of which is the prigram dial. There is a full range of washing programmes available including a 30degree cool wash, silk wash, standard 40degree wash, acrylics, wool, superwash, fast wash and white wash, along with the availablty of a pre-wash option and also a handwash option; the fact that this can be done in a machine kind of defies the term hand-wash, but nevertheless, I am delighted with this option. Each wash corresponds to a letter which is on the dial, the key to which is printed tidily on the front of the washer.
The two other dials are a temperature dial and a speed dial. Temperature can be adjusted from no heat up to 60 degrees; speed of the spin can be adjusted from no spin to 1400. I must admit I generally kepp my speed on 1000 and temp set to 40, but occasionally adjust them for bedding and towels to give them a more vigorous wash.
There are also 5 functions available to select when starting the wash. These are;
extra rinse, rinse hold, wash enhance, mini-load, decreased crease. Some of these are self explanatory, but the uses of the others are explained in the instruction booklet supplied with the washer. When one of these programmes are selected there s a clear red light next to it, so it is easy to see what has been chosen, and likewise to deselect it.
Simple to use
It couldn't be much easier to use this washer. The clothes are simply loaded into it, washing powder/conditioner added, programme, heat, speed selected, and then the 'start' button begins the process. This needs to be held down for 3 seconds for it to work which is good as it means it is unlikely that the washer will be switched on by accident. There are 5 very helpful lights situated at the top of the washer which signal at which stage in the process the washer is at, so you have a rough idea of how much longer it will take. The door remains locked for a few seconds after the washing has finished - until the light goes off - then it is safe to open the door.
Some washers give the impression that they are about to take flight during a spin; the vibrations and noise almost cringeworthy. This one, however, is very quiet in comparison. It seems smooth and calm at all times, and doesn't make a huge noise. I paid about £150 for this washer a few years ago and I haven't had a problem with it whatsoever yet. I am delighted with the product, think it's been great value, and would recommend it to anyone.
