Hi I have had this washer dryer for about three weeks and every time I use the dryer there is a smell which I can only describe as a burning smell I would love to know if anyone else has had this problem??
We had a rather unfortunate run of luck in our house as both our tumble dryer and washing machine needed replaced within a short period of time. Having not spent the money on the dryer, we decided to spend a bit more and get a good quality washing machine. This indesit washer has proved reliable and durable and I am very satisfied with it.
The machine has a 7kg capacity which is great as it reduces the number of loads you have to do (always a plus). It is easy to use, there are a wide variety of programmes, I think there are about 16 though I have to say I haven't tested them all.
I like the Eco-Wash function which allows you reduce the cycle times which not only helps the environment but also saves you money.
There is an LED display which means that you can keep track of the cycle as it has a countdown timer which lets you know how long is left on the cycle.
It performs well as it's great with a range of clothes, from jeans to delicates with a programme to suit them all.
There is a crease reducing function, though I have to say that I haven't really noticed much of a difference but every little helps.
It's a bit nosier than other machines that I have had but it's not excessive.
Overall it's a great machine that's reliable and works well.
I bought this machine for my new house back in 2008 like a lot of the other things that I have reviewed. The machine is great, no faults as of yet, the only problem that we have had so far is that the display with washing time remaining plays up which can get annoying but just give it a little hit with your fist and its back to normal which is great.
This washing machine is like any other kitchen appliance, it is white, with a tray for soap powder and fabric softener, and there is a knob which you turn to the setting you would like for your washing. Listed below is the time for each function the machine does.
* 1 White prewash - 2 hours 35 mins
* 2 White cotton - 2 hours 30 mins
* 3 Colour Cotton - 1 hour 25 mins
* 4 Easy care - 1 hour 12 mins
* 5 Wool - 50 mins
* 6 Silk/Curtains - 45 mins
* 7 Flash Clean - 1 hour
* 8 Flash colours - 50 minutes
* 9 flash nylon - 40 mins
* 10 Daily - 30 minutes
* 11 Special shoes 50 mins
* 12 special sport - 1 hour
* Rinse - 30 minutes
* Spin - 10 minutes
* Drain - 2 minutes
The machine also has Easy Iron, Extra Rinse, and Stain Removal functions.
This machine takes a 7 KG load which is great if you do a lot of washing ie family home. The machine washes the clothes to the same cleanliness whether or not you use the full 7 KG or whether you only put a little amount of clothes in.
The screen on the washing machine is not the best; in fact it is very basic. I personally have problems with the screen which on my machine, it goes all distorted and flashes which is unreadable, you have physically got to hit it with your fist for the screen to return to normal.
This machine as a very powerful spin cycle, it is fairly noisy, you can hear it while you are up the stairs, if there is anything on or in the sink you will hear it rattle about the same with stuff on the work to round about the machines location.
The machine is still in very good condition, I have been using it since mid 2008 which is about 3 years ago to when I am writing this review. I am happy with the build, and I am happy with how well this machine operates, you obviously have the soap powder tray having clumps of solid powder which as missed the tray and hardened over time, this is removed easily with a knife.
The price for this machine is fairly cheap, although when I purchased it was a bit more expensive. I truly think you will get value for money if you are to purchase this machine, it operates well and I have had no problems after 3 years of family usage.
I have no hesitation in recommending this machine to families, single occupant's elderly, in fact I recommend this machine to anyone, I have happy with it, and I think it does a great job!
Thanks for reading! I hope this has been of interest to you and has helped assist you in your decision.
I got my IWE 7145 from Curry's. It was reasonable at around £280- but they publish an incorrect features guide on their website. Also, their delivery staff were rude (threatening even!) and not very skilled. This reflects badly on Curry's but not the machine.
This machine DOES NOT have a pre-wash option as advertised
And it DOES NOT have a hand-wash option ditto. Instructions demand NEVER to use compartment 1. P'raps you could store your clothes pegs here instead.
I selected this model because it has small dimensions as it has to fit in a tight corner. My second consideration was the alleged hand wash feature as I have hand wash items which remain at the bottom of my laundry basket that I never get to wear. They will stay there now.
I don't know what "Flash Cotton" setting is supposed to mean.
And there is only 1 (One!) synthetics setting! This is for Heavily soiled synthetics.
I am going to find it very hard to translate wash-care symbols into relevant wash cycles on this machine.
1400 RPM top speed will dry well but also leave serious creases; there is an 'Easy iron' option which I'll be interested to try out.
And the drum does look yuge; 7Kg is a very generous load.
Overall, I'm sure this will do the trick but it does not give me the same confidence as the John Lewis own brand machine I also have which is easy to use and has very explicit controls.
I'm not qualified to comment on reliability at this time.
Having purchased this washing machine after my last one broke I am very pleased with it, It has a wide range of washes which include sport washes especially designed for muddy sports kits. There are two sports washes an intensive one and a light one. The other sport wash is for shoes and two pairs can be washed at once. There are 6 washes for cottons depending on whether whites or coloured and also how heavily or lightly soiled the clothes are.
There is a synthetics wash as well as 5 special washes which are for wool, silk/ curtains, jeans, a very useful express wash for lightly soiled clothes which is very quick and a flash cotton wash.
The washing machine has an eco feature if a half load is being washed and delayed timer feature as well as an intensive wash feature.
The machine has a display informing of the time the machine has left until it finishes which is a very useful feature.
The washing machine washes well, looks good and has a large range ofuseful features and also has a 7kg load capacity on most of the routine washes though some of the specialist washes have a reduced load but the instruction booklet is very clear and informative.
The machine beeps at the end of a wash which Iam not too keen on but some may find useful
