Disadvantages: lack of cycle choices

Must be only me! I have had my 'moon' for just over two years when we moved to a new house and replaced all our existing appliances with new funky and greener ones. However I find i mostly need to wash on 40 degree cycle and my whites are not what they used to be!
I have had the rubber door seal changed once already due to black mould which has already accumulated again on the new seal. I never shut the door when not in use, allowing air to freely circulate! The indesit engineer stated this was due to using liquids rather than powder detergents? If I use powder on anything but a white wash, small specks of powder are always evident on completion. I have also purchased at £10 a box the granules direct from Indesit which you use periodically on a 60 degree cycle to remove any build up of residues etc. which may in time damage the drum! After using these I then get tiny brown specks of debris on my clothes for at least a couple of washes. I would like to be able to use a spin only feature when I have handwashed an item rather than put it on the rinse only cycle which takes 30 mins and upto 50mins depending which option you choose! A very long time. Anyway I am stuck with it for now but certainly would not purchase another.
