Advantages: Cheap

Disadvantages: Poor build quality

The Indesit W123 is a cheap, no frills washing machine, and you basically get what you pay for. Apart from the 30 minute quick wash, all other programmes are very slow, taking 3 hours or more. Although the spin speed is stated as 1200 rpm, it never really got the clothes as dry as other 1200 spin machines we have had in the past. Having said that it worked OK for four years without any problems. Then shortly after its fourth birthday it stared to get noisy during the spin cycle. The fault was diagnosed as a failed front bearing. Our model was was described as having a 'welded drum', which basically meant that it could not be repaired, apart from replacing the complete drum assembly which would have worked out more than the cost of a new machine. We closed the utility room door and put up with the noise (like a jet engine) for a couple of months, but then the banging started, so it had to go. We now have a Bosch which is very quiet, spins well and the programme times are much shorter. Hopefully this one will last more than four years.

Summary: Cheap, no frills machine but build quality needs improving.
