I bought this washing machine three years ago now when I moved into my first house. I only went for this one, as it was the cheapest decent one available! It was only around £180-£200 from Tesco direct, which wasn't bad as it does look nice and modern, not cheap, even though it was one of the cheapest.
I didn't want to spend a lot of money as I didn't have much of it when I bought my first house! However I am glad I didn't go for an expensive one, as this washing machine is perfect for us! My mum also had this washing machine when I lived with her, so I knew already it was good.
This washing machine is by indesit, and is a nice bright white colour. It is the same size as most standard washing machines and fits in my kitchen perfectly. The great thing about this washing machine when I bought it, was that it has 5 years parts warranty! It does give us piece of mind that we have another 2 years with this washer and if it breaks it doesn't cost us anything! My mum has just had a part go on it, and it did cost her a lot of money, she wouldn't tell me how much, and she has had hers just over five years now, so she did get 5 years no bother with it.
This washing machine has a 46 litre drum, and a 6kg capacity. This is more than enough space for mine and my boyfriends washing. You can get quite a lot of stuff in there, and we have to do about 3/4 loads a week. This washing machine has an 1200 rpm spin, and our clothes always come out clean and fresh.
We usually use setting number 10, which goes for around an hour, and there is a spin option which we always use at the end, just to make your clothes come out a bit drier. Our clothes don't come out soaking wet anyway though even not using the spin, but it does really help your towels dry a bit quicker.
There are 13 options altogether, there is a good setting, no.4 which we use for my boyfriends work clothes as it is the only one that gets his dirty clothes clean. It does go on for a while, though, I think it goes for nearly an hour and a half!
There is a quick wash on it, no. 11, which goes on for about 40 minutes. We have tried this one and some of our clothes still came out dry! They didn't even get wet, I don't know if its just a rubbish spin setting, or there's a fault with our machine, but we don't use this one anymore anyway.
One thing I love about this washing machine is being able to set the timer. I always set it for half 5 in the morning so when I get up at 7 its ready to hang outside! I hate having to wait for the washer in the morning, or put it on the night before as then its sat in there all night!
The only really bad thing I can say about this washing machine, is that it is way too loud! We can't watch TV or do anything when it's on without shutting the kitchen door, its that loud you just can't hear the TV! When it is really spinning, sometimes it wakes us up in bed if I've set it to come on early morning!
This washing machine is so easy to use, it doesnt take much to work it out! It does come with a really good easy to follow manual which explains every setting, but all you do is turn one handle to the setting number you want, and the other to the temperature you want, and press the start button! It couldnt be easier, it isn't complicated to use at all, even the spin option is just one button then press start again!
This washing machine has an A energy rating, and has a 2 minute timer delay on the door, so when your machine has finished, you have to wait two minutes before the doors unlock.
You just put your powder and fabric softer in the draw at the top of the machine, which pulls out nicely so you can wash the whole thing. It is nice and easy to clean around the rubber rim round the door, which sometimes gets black mould round it! I just clean it all out now every two weeks, and we don't get any dirt or mould growing anymore.
Overall, I cant fault this washing machine, it's done us three years so far without any bother, and if it does go after the five year warranty ends, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another!
When we first bought this house, we were buying everything on a budget, but didn't want a house full of bottom end appliances, we found the Indesit WIXL123 for £259 from Tesco. For this price you get a five year parts guarantee, which is good, after five years you will probably want a change anyway!
The spec of the machine is - A rated for energy, 46 litre drum, 6kg capacity, and a 1200rpm spin. Now we were new to the world of washing machines, as the closest we had got to one in the past, was giving our dirty laundry to our mums! These figures however, did seem pretty impressive, and compared to other washers, was very good value for money.
When we got it home and out the box, we both stared at it for a while, we were both unsure on what to do, using a washing machine was new to us, but the easy to follow instruction book made it much easier.
The machine has 13 wash settings, ranging from delicates to sports, wool to quick wash, you name it, there is a setting for it! There are also several wash settings, from cold to 90 degrees
We tend to use number 11, which is a 40min quick wash, it seems to do the trick, and washing always comes out smelling fresh, just like it does in the adverts. The 90 degree wash, which is good for doing white's apparently, although we haven't tried it yet, i do have some jeans that are starting to get a big, so am thinking about shrinking them with this cycle!
There is a spin setting, we sometimes use this after the wash cycle, just to make life a bit easier for the dryer, although it does come out fairly dry the first time round, certainly not dripping.
There is a delay timer, which is very useful, if we want to hang washing out in the morning, we can set the machine to do its work 9 hours in advance. Set it all up before you go to bed, and when you get up the next morning it's ready to hang out!
One thing that does annoy me, which i think all washing machines do, is the door stays locked for a few minutes after the cycle, this sometimes seems to take eternity when you are in a rush, but not much we can do about that.
Overall, its very good, I would recommend it, and wouldn't hesitate to buy an Indesit again.
I bought this about a month ago from B&Q after realising it was the same one a neighbour had recommended and so far can only praise it. I was concerned at first that it might not be up to the job of our last machine as it was a Bosch but if anything it has been working better.
It is so much quieter that I often have to check that I did actually switch it on. The cold fill has already seen us with a reduction in our gas useage and it is so much better being able to use a cold wash on some materials.
The drum is wider than our last machine but not as deep. This seems to make things less likely to get tangled up and even linen clothing doesn't seem to need as much ironing afterwards. The 30 minute wash is perfect for items that just need a freshen up and even the 60deg. wash only takes 60 minutes.
I haven't yet needed to use the timer delay but I can see where that would be a huge benefit to someone with dual electricity.
It came with a five year parts guarantee when you phoned to register and one year labour. Of course they try to sell you a three year labour warranty too but for just over £200 for the machine I don't think it was worth the extra money for the extended warranty.
I bought an Indesit WIXL123 last year from B&Q. It was £199 on a special buy offer. The only problem buying here was that we had to get it home ourselves but this can also be a positive as I did not have to wait in for delivery and had my machine in and in use the same evening. I was so pleased with it that two week later when my mums machine broke she went and bought another identical machine.
I chose this machine as it had many of the features that I was looking for.
It takes a large load and the door is large making it easier to wash larger items such as bedding, sofa covers and the dogs bed.
A load of washing can be done in as little as 30 minutes.
It has a delay start which is handy if you are on Economy 7 electric.
It is a cold fill only machine.
I like the fact that I am able to do which wash I want at a temperature to suit the fabrics.
I have found it much quieter than my previous machine which cost double the price (a hotpoint aquarius) and would buy one again.
The only problem I have had is that twice it has not pumped the water out for some reason but it has not done this since. Also the soap dispenser is a bit arkward to remove for cleaning.
