LG WM16220FD ... was recommended to buy a direct drive LG washing machine when the repair engineer came to try to fix my old machine which turned out to be beyond help. He uses an LG machine himself and told me he had never had to repair one. I concurr with everything the previous reviewer has said. There are cheaper machines but I believe this one is worth the extra money because it takes a very large load (I have just washed a king-sized duvet), it is remarkably quiet even when spinning at top speed, it is very easy to use, it is economical to operate and has proved very reliable. LG F1222TD5 ... pruchased this washing machine about six months ago, and havent had any problems with it so far. I chose this washing machine as the colour matches the other appliances in my kitchen, and also because LG as a brand are becoming known for providing quality goods at reasonable prices. I bought it from Currys, who matched a price that i had seen elsewhere, plus its always good to try and get them to either deliver and fit it for free, or come to an arrangement with regard to taking the old washing machine away.
