Advantages: value for money!!!!!

Disadvantages: only average energy rating

I needed a washer / dryer mainly because I was fed up of either taking my washing home, or going to the laundrette. I bought the servis M4909 (what a catchy name) in November last year.

The reasons I chose it were: 1. It was cheap, and so far I haven't found a cheaper washer / dryer on the market.
and quite importantly 2. My mother had bought a Servis washer dryer about 3 months before hand and was very pleased with it.

I confess to knowing next to nothing about washing machines and I only ever use the 40 degree quick wash and the tumble dryer.

Here are the features copied from the currys web site:

- 10lb wash/5lb drying load
- 12 wash programmes
- Half load option
- Rinse hold option
- Delicates spin
- 180 Deg Opening
- Quickwash
- Wool Program
- Hand Wash
- H=885mm W=660mm D=560mm
- Energy Rating D
- Wash Performance B
- Spin Speed 900 rpm
- Colour White
- Spin Performance C
- Water consumption 141 litres
- Energy Consumption 5 kwh
- No of Programs 12
- Separate washing energy 1.03 kwh
- 180 Deg Opening *** Mine only opens 90 degrees, but this isn't a problem
- Quickwash
- Wool Program
- Hand Wash

The machine is effective and seems to serve the purpose well.
I expect there are better washer dryers out there but not for this price. Also I have heard people say you should get separate washing machines and separate dryers, but who has space for that? (Not me)

It does jump around a bit at the more than acceptable 900rpm spin. (The faster the better so I've heard). The spin speed can be reduced with a button, also the drying timer does two hours, which with a half load is probably about right, I try not to put too much in - about a quarter load (most of my clothes say not to tumble anyway) - and only have it for 1 hour.

I don't know how long it will last before it goes wrong but
they are supposed to last about 6 years. In 6 years time I think I will definitely have got my moneys worth!

My one final gripe is that whilst the machine is white, the top is off white, for some unknown reason. But I didn't buy it for its looks, now did I?

900? Is that all? Pah - mine is 1100 (well, it was until it stopped working!).

Your parents will be happy you bought this machine if you were taking your washing home for them to do

It does sound a very good price for a washer/dryer
