Advantages: does the job

Disadvantages: none yet

When our old machine started to play up(it was 10 years old) we decided that it was no longer worth the repair bills so we replaced it with another whirlpool. The main reason for choosing whirlpool again was the fact that we have found it to be a reliable brand in the past.

we decided to settle for the AWM5125/4which offered the range of programmes to suit us.
It has 10 programmes,1200 spin speed and an A,A,B rating.
An "A" rating being the best.

Installation is fairly easy. This machine needs a hot and cod water supply and as you would expect a waste outlet. It is a standard size which requires a space measuring 600mm widex570mm depth(minimum)x816 high(minimum. The hardest part of the installation is probably getting it into position mainly because of the weight. If you do not have the required hot and cold connections then I would reccomend calling in a plumber unless you feel confident enough to make the connections to your water pipes. That said the average DIYer should be able to do it without too much bother.
Although this is not an"Eco" machine we have found it to be efficient if somewhat slow(depending on program selected) but for most washes the daily program is sufficient. The main thing is of course that it gets the clothes clean. With four children in the house a reliable machine is very important as you can imagine.

The door is slightly larger than usual so makes for easier loading if thats possible. The reccomended maximum load is 5.5kg but according to the instructions the maximum varies from 1.0 kg to 5.5kgs depending on the program selected

The 12200 spin is a big improvement on the 1000 spin of our old machine, everything seems so much drier when you unload the machine which of course saves energy when having to use a tumble drier during bad weather.

It is also a lot quieter than the old machine and it has a system that monitors the spinning to ensure the it is balanced, im not sure how this works but maybe someone out there can enlighten me. The door also opens a lot sooner on this machine than it does on others.

If you happen to be looking for a new washing machine then i would certainly reccomend that you take a look at this one ,it is a good one.

According to the manufacturer the consumption is as follows:
Cotton @ 95 deg-5.5kg-54litres water-1.9kwh-2hrs 05 min cycle time

Cotton@60 deg-5.5kgs-49litres water-1.04kwh-2hrs 25 min cycle

Cotton@40 deg-5.0kg-44litres water-0.60kwh-2hrs 10 min cycle

Daily@ 40 deg-3.0kgs-50litres water-0.60kwh-1hr cycle
there are other programmes but I think this gives a good example of the energy used.

One thing we did find or perhaps I should say didn't find was even the smallest sample of washing powder or conditioner, a few years ago you were often given a large box of detergent but that was probably in with the price somewhere.
