... This particular model came highly recommended by more than one publication. Well, here I am in late May 2002, and the washing machine has DIED... aged not quite 2.5 years old. It needs a new motor, and also a replacement jet system pump (you cannot do without one of these, as the washing will come out still dry in the middle, or you have to manually put more water in). Price quoted by a non-Zanussi authorised repairer, but using genuine parts is just under £200.00 My guess is it would be more using the Zanussi people... I regret I cannot recommend this machine to anyone, having had this bad experience. It is questionable whether or not it is economic to repair ...

... I first got married money was tight so a washing machine was way down our list of priorities however when my son was a year old I thought it time to invest in an automatic washing machine. We chose a Zanussi and it did yeoman service but after nineteen year of three loads a day it decided it needed to retire. Please don’t ask where the three loads come from some days I think I do it for the entire street. So with a rattle and a clunk it gave up. I phoned the repair man (can you hear him laughing) who politely informed me a machine that age was not worth repairing as the parts were no longer available. ... bought one of these in January 2001, and so far I'm fairly pleased with it, though obviously it's still early to pass judgement completely. The FJS1225W has a delay start feature, which I like, because I can load in in the evening and delay the start to early the folowing morning, when I may have the energy to put the clothes on the line. The machine is generally pleasant to use and has a nice big door instead of a little porthole, as on my previous Hoover. BUT - and this is a big but - on two occasions that my wife has washed her bras in it, it has chewed them up completely, so that the bra wire has come out and stuck in the holes in the drum.
