... review applies to the Zanussi model FLA 1001, 1101 or 1201 washing machines (same machine but with different features). We bought ours in April, 2001 for almost 300 pounds. It worked reasonably well for 3 years, but suddenly last month, started making a terrible loud whirring noise when spinning. We called 2 repair-men. The first said if it's a Zanussi, it's not worth fixing and we should junk this machine. Another repair-man came, took it apart and listened to the noise. He explained that the machine was made cheaply - engineered for ease of manufacture but impossible to replace the main bearing that holds the drum. He offered to replace the main bearing ...

... bought our Zanussi washing machine in October 2001, we bought it from John Lewis (formally known as Jessops) for £329. We previously had a Whirlpool washing machine which was 10 years old and needed replacing because it started ripping the clothes. We have had our Zanussi FJS1225W for nearly 2 years now and it is excellent. It washes and spins the clothes brilliantly. This machine has a wash system called Jetsystem, this showers the clothes instead of bathing them giving excellent results. ... impressed. I bought this machine without actually having seen it. I did a lot of research and found this to be the best for my needs. I did find the instruction book a bit confusing at first ie. I couldn't find the instructions on how to remove the transit brackets (they were at the back of the book) very unusual. It was also difficult to find out how to just spin. I'm one of those people who don't like to read instructions, I tend to work things out for myself then if I cannot find the answer then I resort to the book.
