Nike Triax C3
by slender_toned I received this watch as a present for my birthday quite a while ago. It was great as I have always done quite a lot of long distance running and this watch came in useful for tracking my heart beat. After looking it up, I figured it costs around £50 new, which isn't that cheap but it has some good technology built in. The ... watch comes with a strap that goes round your chest and picks up your heart rate from the heart itself. This then wirelessly sends the reading to your watch so you can see it flashing on the screen, when on the heart rate screen. Besides this, the watch gives you the time and also has a stopwatch. It lacks alarms and many other features but it's extremely easy to use. The watch is grey and is unisex - it would look perfectly fine on either a guy or girl. The rubber strap curves outwards where the screen is to surround a silver frame to the screen. The strap has many elongated holes for the buckle to be fastened to and it should fit a large range of wrist sizes including those which are small as mine was when I first got this watch! The screen shows a black digital display of the time and heart rate. Seconds are not shown on the time and when on the heart rate menu, a little heart shaped symbol will also flash to the beat of your heart along with the actual beats per minute being displayed in numerical format too. The strap that goes round your chest is quite comfortable but can be hard to get on. You must get it in good contact with your skin too. It does have some pads, which seem to improve the contact with your skin. The front of it has a Nike logo and a simple grey design to match the watch. It doesn't feel too uncomfortably cold to get on usually. You must put it round your chest and buckle it up like the watch strap. I find it easiest to do this when the buckle bit is on the front of me as it's quite hard to do blindly! Once done up tightly (but not too tight), you may have to adjust it until the watch starts picking up your heart rate. It usually finds it pretty quickly but the strap can be a bit annoying to have on whilst running as I'm always conscious it's there. It can appear to be a bit tight at times too and when you take deep breaths, you feel as if you're stretching the strap as your chest expands. The heart rate feature is the prominent one of this watch and is useful for cardiac training. If you want to train your heart and get it to be more efficient, you should aim to train with your heart rate at 80% of your maximum heart rate. Your maximum heart rate is 220 minus your age. I found this watch pretty useful and both batteries in the chest strap and watch itself are still going! Made by Nike, it certainly is reliable and I've made a lot of use out of it. The chest strap can be a bit annoying and takes some getting used to but it's a good feature. I have had no problems with this and so would recommend it if you're looking for a watch that can monitor your heart rate! The only problem is you need to wear the chest strap whereas nowadays some watches can sense your heart rate on your wrist directly to the watch. Thanks for reading! :) Read the complete review |

Nike Triax C3
by hilarya I have been running regularly for about three years, and about two years ago my boyfriend bought me this nike sports watch for my birthday. I was very excited, not having owned a sports watch before. The watch is supposed to be unisex, and I really like it because it isn't girly, so many of the womens specific watches seem to be pink, ... which isn't my thing at all. Both the heart rate monitor and the watch strap are adjustable, but if you were really tiny you would probably want to go for a womens specific model - I use mine on the smallest setting. The heart rate monitor is easy to put on, and sits quite well most of the time. I don't use it every time that I run, because it is just one extra thing to do, but it is very useful to be able to measure your heart rate sometimes, especially if you are doing hard sessions. The watch is very sturdy, and is waterproof up to 30 metres depth, so you can wear it swimming, although you are not supposed to press the buttons underwater. There aren't huge numbers of functions on the watch, but because of this is it easy to use. The stopwatch is the main function that I use, but it doesn't do split lap timing. Although it is quite a basic watch, I think this is almost an advantage, because most people don't know how to use half of the complicated functions on their watches anyway. It costs about forty five pounds I think, which I would consider to be fairly reasonable, it is one of the cheapest watches you will find which comes with a heart rate monitor. All in all, I would definitely recommend this product, I certainly wouldn't be without mine. Read the complete review |

Nike Triax C3
by DocDan3 I have had this watch for a long time now after buying it when I started doing a lot of running and cardio work. This watch has a built in heart rate monitor and it comes with a strap that goes round your chest to measure your heart rate. I bought it for around £45.00 at the time but I'm not sure if this item is continued anymore. ... Nevertheless, I'm sure you can buy it second hand online. It's grey and the strap is rubber with many holes in it so it fits all size wrists. There are holes along the whole of both straps, which is actually the design too but I guess it doesn't feel as hot on your wrist this way when you're exercising as the holes let your skin ventilate. The screen is a simple digital display with a black lining round it where the two buttons on the right are labeled: start/stop and mode. It says 'Triax C3' on the silver surrounding the screen and the Nike tick is just above. The time is displayed simply in 12 hr mode and it says am or pm too. The second mode is a stopwatch and the other is the pulse receiver from the strap. The strap fits round your chest and takes a bit of positioning to get right before it works. It wirelessly sends a signal to your watch to tell you your heart rate, which is useful when you are training and you can also time your recovery rate afterwards. Overall, it's a useful watch but very simple and not cheap. Thanks for reading, Dan © Read the complete review |
