“ Brand: Avon / Type: Women „
WHAT IS IT?
A watch for women that is from Avon. I do not know if it was for sale or a free item with perfume, my watch came as a gift set with a purple bottle of perfume. It is no longer for sale by Avon but I think you would be able to find one on Ebay sometimes.
This watch is very attractive. It has got a soft purple strap and the face of the watch matches this but it is shiny, the case of the watch is a silver colour and there are sparkled glass stones where the strap is joined to the case.
The purple colour is very beautiful and I like to wear this watch at any time of the day or at night. There are not any numbers marked into the face of the watch but I do not care about that because even though I wear a watch sometimes I usually do not look at it and look for the time on my phone instead!
WHAT I THINK
I am very happy with this watch because it is so attractive and because it is a good watch also. I do use my phone most of the time but it is depending on what is easiest, the most times I would look at my watch would be when I am working on a clients hair and timing curling or waving times. This is in 2 - 5 minute lengths but that is hard to time when I wear this watch because of no numbers, I can time it if I am careful to watch the movements of the 2nd hand but that is not possible all of the time when I am talking to my ladies. That is not a disadvantage because it is not the error of the watch and I have learned to wear a different watch when I am styling hair.
The strap is very comfortable and I like that the buckle is easy to work, there are not very many holes in the strap but I think they have good gaps between them so the strap will fit most wrist thickness. There is room to punch another hole also and the strap is the average length for a ladies watch.
The time is never wrong even if I do not wear my watch for a week or more than that sometimes, I like the way that the hands move because they are very sleek and move smoothly. I think that makes the watch look very stylish because the cross of purple and silver is on trend and very feminine.
5 Dooyoo Stars.
Any regular readers of my reviews will be aware by now that I work part-time as an Avon representative when my poor health allows. This means that I have easy access to many of the great deals and regular promotions that are available from the Avon company.
Over the years I have tried out many of the perfumes and fragrances that have been launched by Avon, and have found the Avon fragrances released under the "Christian Lacroix" brand have been quite exquisite in particular, resulting in me purchasing each one for myself not longer after its release. I was delighted to note a new exclusive-to-Avon fragrance was being launched under the Christian Lacroix brand earlier this year, namely the "Christian Lacroix Nuit", which is an Eau De Parfum for ladies, although it might be worth noting that there is an aftershave product available in the same range.
I was interested in trying out the fragrance for myself and thanks to my experience of working with Avon for the past several years, I knew that I would be offered a 'promotional deal' at the time of the product's launch to encourage me to try out the product, which would allow me to take full advantage of trying out the new perfume at a reduced price. I was absolutely right, and the promotion that I opted for at the time was a sort of 'double deal' which cost me in the region of £18. For this, I received a full-sized bottle of the Christian Lacroix Nuit perfume, (50ml) and a gorgeous purple-coloured watch, namely the "Avon Ladies Purple Watch" was included at this time. (I believe that the watch was not available to purchase separately at the time, although this may change in the future.)
When the items arrived from Avon, I have to confess to being absolutely delighted with my purchase. The perfume was really lovely and I thought the watch looked fabulous, much nicer than the small picture in the Avon brochure had suggested. I was impressed too that the packaging for the watch was slightly nicer-than-usual, in comparison to some of the other jewellery products that I have ordered from Avon in the past. In this instance, the outer cardboard box was a pretty purple colour to co-ordinate with the watch itself, and there was ample packaging to protect the watch in transit. Both of the items in the promotional deal were packaged separately as I had expected, so if I had chosen to gift either the watch or the perfume as a Christmas present or something, then this wouldn't have been difficult to do.
The watch itself is purple in colour, as you would expect given the name of the product. The on-season shades of purple and plum in the detailing of the product make the watch quite appealing and fashionable. I do think that the watch has quite a modern, contemporary look to it, but not overly so, and it didn't strike me as being either too young or too old for my own age, which is ideal I think, as it would probably make the product appeal to more age groups overall.
The strap is self-coloured in a pretty shade of purple that I don't think is overly dark. The material of the strap is not the best I have ever come across I have to admit, and it reminds me of a sort of man-made 'faux leather' type material. There are ample holes in the strap to allow the wearer to adjust the sizing of the strap to their own wrist ensuring the best comfort. I don't find that the strap is particularly padded, which I know some people prefer, but I do think it offers enough padding to be comfortable enough to wear for a significant period of time. The strap also seems to be fairly robust and I have not witnessed it being overly susceptible to fraying, or other common signs of wear and tear in an item like this one.
The watch face is a sort of vertical oblong shaped design which is quite thin and neat-looking when the watch is being worn. The 'face' of the watch has quite a lot of detail in it, all of which I think adds a real contemporary, rather 'sleek' look to the watch. Firstly, the watch 'face' itself has a pretty dark purple coloured background, which is very slightly 'metallic' or 'shiny' looking and so gives it an eye-catching look. The numbers (or in this case little lines to represent where the numbers should be) are a metallic silver colour, as are the long, slender hands of the watch. This silver-coloured detail on the watch face adds to the eye-catching detail of the item overall and contributes to the overall sleek and modern design.
The 'frame' of the watch face is also a metallic-silver colour, although I am unsure if it is silver-plated or from what material it is made. It has a slightly thick, 'chunky' look to it, and it overhangs the watch strap very slightly at the edges, but not overly so and there is nothing cumbersome or clunky about the design at all.
At the top and the bottom of the silver 'frame' there is some little square-shaped imitation 'gemstones', similar to a 'diamante' type stone, that are a sort of plum colour and are quite eye-catching, adding a little sparkle and glamour to the overall design of the watch. There are three of these little 'gemstones' at the top of the watch frame and three at the bottom, so it gives a sort of symmetrical look to the watch face overall.
There is a small, very delicate looking winder at the side of the silver 'frame' which you can use to adjust the time. I have only ever used this once, although it worked perfectly. The battery can be replaced as far as I know, although I have not had to do this as yet.
I think that all of the separate elements of the design - and all the attention to detail that have been incorporated therein, really work well with this watch, accumulating into a piece that is both functional and stylish. I also think that it would appeal to quite a wide range of consumers, as it could be seen as ranging from 'trendy' thanks to the colours and shades used, together with the slimly-designed strap, to perhaps slightly 'classic' as there is nothing garish or at all 'immature' about the watch's look and style.
In terms of durability, I'm afraid that the news is not as positive as the rest of this review. I am extremely unhappy to report that one of the gorgeous sparkly 'gemstones' somehow managed to become loosened from the watch face and got lost. This resulted in the sleek rather 'symmetrical' look to the watch being off-balance obviously and as this damage occurred after only a couple of weeks of owning the watch (and after only wearing it a handful of times!) I sought a replacement from Avon on the grounds of it being faulty. I have since received my replacement, and so far it has remained free from any damage, but I do have to question how robust or durable the little purple diamante 'gemstones' are, or how well they are secured to the watch face. I usually only wear a watch if I am going out somewhere or attending a special occasion so the fact that the gemstone got loosened on the original watch was quite a significant disappointment to me, and I feel that this flaw in the product's design should be recognised by removing a star from the product rating.
This flaw didn't deter me from ordering a second (albeit replacement) watch from Avon as I love the colours and style of it so much, but I have to admit that I am slightly dubious about how long the item will last me, which is a real shame.
I can't help but recommend the Avon Ladies Purple Watch as it is such a gorgeous-looking item and I think it would make a lovely gift. I am dubious about the overall durability of the watch however, and feel that this should be taken into account.
There is a range of watches and jewellery available from Avon, which you can purchase from your local Avon representative. You can buy a selection of Avon products online at the company's website which you can find at www.avonshop.co.uk, although I believe that the website is currently running an alternative promotion in terms of the Christian Lacroix Nuit perfume (as @ 20 December 2011). The promotions that are available from Avon rotate and vary from brochure to brochure, and it is worth asking your Avon representative about any items that you wish to order from previous brochures as this can often be done easily.
