Advantages: My 5 year old loves it
Disadvantages: It does nothing and doesn't even come with the attachments required.
Anybody who has a boy under the age of 10 will know who Ben 10 is, I have 3 boys, one is only a baby but the other two aged 5 and 3 love Ben 10. I know so much about Ben 10 I feel I am an expert myself.
Ben 10 is a children's program that is on Cartoon Network about a boy who goes on holiday with his Grandpa Max and his cousin Gwen, and he finds a watch. The watch which is called an Omnitrix turns Ben into ten different aliens, all with different powers and when he goes alien he uses his powers to fight the baddies.
As with all children's television programs you find lots of merchandise which of course your child just has to have. My little boy just had his fifth birthday and I think every present he had was Ben 10 related. One of them being the Ultimate Omnitrix.
The Ultimate Omnitrix is a relatively new product, as Ben 10 has just had a new series out and this is now called Ben10 Alien Force. Ben is now older, his omnitrix is different, the aliens are different. So just when you think you have got all the merchandise, all the toys and aliens associated with Ben 10 they go out re-brand everything and now there is all the Ben 10 Alien Force things to buy. It is a very clever move by the company but not very good if you're a parent of children who want to have latest toys.
My two oldest sons both have one of the old style Omnitrix's, so when my son said he wanted the Ultimate Omnitrix I did not really want to buy it, however he received it as a present from my brother. I think he paid about £17.
The Ultimate Omnitrix is a watch which you attach mini transparent alien figures onto, they light up and you hear the aliens voice. You can then pretend to be that alien. There is lights and sound effects but basically it does nothing. The mini transparent alien figures to not even come with the watch you have to purchase them separately.
I am very disappointed with the Omnitrix, I don't even think it is as good as the first Omnitrix. It is good for wearing and pretending to be Ben 10 but that's as far as it goes.
My little boy though loves his new Omnitrix and always has it on so maybe I'm just being a sceptical parent. It is his new toy and he thinks it's great so I suppose that's all that matters
Summary: Very disappointed.
