As previously stated in an earlier watch review I do like my watches and I am slowly building up a collection to match my mood/outfits. I really love anything a bit different or brightly coloured as I like to stand out from the crowd and don't just buy things because they are 'cool' or some else thinks they are trendy; believe me I do not aim to fit in! A watch to me is like my tattoos, its an accessory that says something about the wearer just like hair colours and if you're shoes are clean (my mother swears this makes an impression). I wanted a rubbery silicone type watch to add to my collection and I have a love for the highlighter pen coloured orange at the moment (don't know why) and I think it matches my tan coloured trousers nicely.
I visited the watchshop.com and was looking at the Ice watches, as I own one already I knew that I liked them but I wasn't sure about spending upwards of £58 again at a time when money is tight. So I looked at a whole range of neon rubbery watches and came across the Breo range; Breo have everything from bangles to sports mini watches. I liked the look of the cube watch and it reminded me of a lego block or something retro; its quirkiness made me want to buy it. The watch cost £38.24 with free p&p, quite a bit cheaper than an Ice watch so I was happy with the purchase.
On the watchshop.com the Breo cube watch is available in 5 colours, there is pink, blue, yellow, orange and white so something for every taste (near enough).
The watch arrived within two days which was impressive as I did not have to pay anything for postage so was expecting it to take at least a week to arrive. When it arrived it was boxed to protect the contents; the watch was in an official Breo presentation box containing the guarantee and instruction booklet (quite thick as it has many languages included), and a little window so the watch can be seen before opening. The watch comes with the watchshop.com 30 day money back guarantee which is good for buying things from the internet as I never know if they are going to fit (wrist size 5.5") or if I will like them; there is also a 1 year Breo guarantee.
After I got the watch out of the case (quite an easy job) I tried it on and as per usual the watch only fits on the first punch hole but that is fine as it still fits. Upon first putting the watch on my wrist it looked a little big but thats because I have tiny wrists and after getting used to I felt that it looked quite good, it isn't too heavy either.
The face of the watch is like a flatter cube with a face width of approx. 45mm and a depth of approx 12mm which stands a little high but that is all part of the watch quirk. My watch is a bright orange with matching case and rubbery straps. The watch has a date feature which I like and the design on the front makes it look like there are extra hands on the face, the date is at the number 4 area of the watch and is easy to adjust by slightly popping out the silver twister button. There are three hands on the watch so can be used for anything such as pulse readings etc as the seconds are visible.
The watch when worn feels quite sturdy and the straps have not strecthed yet which often can happen to the cheaper rubber straps when worn for a period of time.
The numbers on the watch face can be difficult to read at a glance and do require you to look at them properly as they are the same orange as the background; however, the hands are white so as long as you are familiar with time positionings this can help.
The watch is very comfortable to wear and does not make my wrist sweaty, irritated and doesn't leave marks or dints in my skin like some do.
There is water resistency of up to 30 meters but I have not tested the watch in any water as I am always scared I am going to break it.
I recommend this watch as a cheaper version of the 'fashion' watches and it is just as quirky, bright and feature packed as the rest.
