WHAT ARE THEY?
These are watches that are made by Casio. The Baby-G watches were for women but I saw a lot of men wearing them also as a fashion statement. I had two Baby-G watches, one was pink and the other was blue and I think those are the main two colours for watches in this range and they are the colours most people would be seen wearing.
WHAT I THINK
I liked that the Baby-G watches both told very good time and they looked good on my wrist also. The watches are bulky and have a strap that stands out, sometimes I would choose to wear another watch because I think Baby-G watches look their best with casual and sporty clothes and a lot of my working outfits were too professional.
I liked the level of detail on the watch face because I am a beautician and often have to time very exact timings if I am using a cosmetic product on one of my ladies, I was able to time things easy with my Baby-G watches and I could set alarms and check things like stopwatch counters as well as using it as usual just to tell the time for check what the date is.
I think Baby-G watches are very comfortable to wear because even though they are quite heavy they have got a good balance that stops them weighing or rubbing on my skin.
A Casio Baby-G watch costs about £70 and I think that is value because they are such good watches. There are a lot of different ones out now so if you look you might find a different design that you like better than the standard ones I have got.
5 Dooyoo Hearts.
A good watch is a necessity as tardiness is something that I can really not abide. I was bought the Casio baby G blue so that I can have a robust watch on while I climb or do other strenuous activities. These watches are well made, hard to scratch and comfortable and if you are looking for something that stands out and looks (dare I say it) geek-chic... then this is the watch for you.
Casio are a house hold brand name who was originally known for making pocket calculators and alike. In 1974 Casio launched the Casiotron, the world's first digital watch with automatic calendar. In 1983, Casio launched the shock-resistant G-SHOCK watch. This product shattered the notion that a watch is a fragile piece of jewellery that needs to be handled with care and was the result of Casio engineers taking on the challenge of creating the world's toughest watch.
==Baby G Blue==
The Baby G blue watch has a comfortable plastic strap that has two extra clips to keep it in place and prevent the watch being caught. This is especially important if you use the watch whilst engaged in sports or activities. The watch is light at 2.7 g and has a clear digital face that can be illuminated so you can see the time during the hours of darkness. The design is not really my cup of tea though and it does not have the sex appeal. You would not want to wear this watch with your favourite dress on a hot date. It is functional and well made but on the whole I would describe it as cumbersome and a bit ugly. However the watch needs to be cumbersome as the shell is the best part, the casing for the watch mechanism is shock proof, which means it is unaffected by strong impacts or shaking. The face of the watch cannot be scratched with anything sharp, although I do not recommend you taking a compass to the watch "just to see." The screen is made from scratch-resistant mineral crystal. Now doesn't that sound James Bond. Lastly, the final test for the robust watch, now we have beat it with a stick, stabbed it and sliced at it with knives is the water test. Of course, how can you boost about having a tough little watch that is afraid of water? Luckily, this watch is also waterproof to 200m so you can take it scuba diving too. This watch is truly fearless.
==What does it do?==
This baby does more than tell the time... It features a 20-page databank that allows you to store phone numbers and other valuable contact information (8 characters for name and 12 characters for telephone number). It also has a 1/100-second stopwatch (up to 24 hours), daily alarm, world time from 40 cities and an hourly time signal. You can automatically count down the days from the current date to a target date with the five day counters (each featuring 8 input characters for identification).
Now the above functions are all there but you really need to study the manual to figure out how to work the thing. There are only four buttons on the side of the watch and so it gets quite tricky remembering which performs which function. Luckily setting the time is the most simple task and involves pressing the mode button then the up and down buttons to change the time.
I like the watch as I do not need to worry about it when I wear it. It can withstand all the bumps and scrapes I put it though and it is waterproof too. I have never put names and numbers in my watch and I do not think this will ever catch on. I can remember my first watch had a calculator function and I used to cheat in my maths tests at school, no one has this sort of thing now though. They keep inventing new and interesting things to do with watches but the underlying thing is that people just want watches to tell the time and all the fancy stuff is a bit unnecessary.
I am happy with the durability of the watch and the battery lasted years before it needed replacing. My only drawback is that on the face of the watch, there are a number of crevices for fluff and dirt to hide and as the strap is see through blue plastic you can see the dirt hiding underneath.
You can buy the watch for around 40 pounds and it is well worth it.
My baby-g watch does not like the one on the picture but i have had two baby-g watches and they have both been excellent watches. Most of the baby-g watches have: time, date, alarm, countdown timer and stopwatch. But you can get other watches with small games or a phone book. I think it would be safe to say that all baby-g watches are water resistant and most of them will be shock resistant ( so if you ever get the urge to throw your watch you can). I haven't had to change my batteries in two years and I use the light on it quite often.
