Advantages: Looks stylish and smart, no need to replace the battery, good face and easy to read time
Disadvantages: The initial cost of the watch
You may have red from previous reviews that I have quite a large collection of watches. I do enjoy collecting them and see them as quite a fashion accessory. My attraction to them became worse when we had a lovely jewellers open in my local town so when a birthday or Christmas comes around, I often ask for vouchers for the shop so I can go and buy some more bling. In the January sales this year I purchased the watch that I am going to be reviewing today. The watch is a Citizen Women's Eco Drive Stainless Steel Watch and here are my thoughts on it.
Even though I have a number of watches in my collection I have never owned a Citizen branded one before. The watch cost around the £99.00 mark, it had been marked down in the sale and it is now back up to full price and will cost about £140.00. I think the Citizen branded watches do cost that little bit more but it is worth shopping around. The watch I purchased as I mentioned was from a smaller independent jeweller but you can get it from high street jewellers such as HM Samuel. It can also be found online at places like the Watch Hut and Amazon. I had a quick look and the watch ends to be at the full place as opposed to the sale price that I paid.
The watch came in a presentation box but I was quick to get this opened and had a good look at it. There is a small instruction booklet as well as an impressive 5 year manufacturer's guarantee. The watch was first produced in 2011 and it was the sleek design that drew me to it. Made from stainless steel there is a linked strap with a rectangular face. The main feature that drew me to the watch is that rather than having to get replacement batteries when they run out, the battery charges itself up, hence the eco drive in the watches title.
The Eco part does not really take much understanding, as long as the watch gets plenty of daylight then it will run fine, I just sit with my sleeves rolled back or most of the time I wear short sleeves anyway so I have never had an issue with it losing time, I just like the fact that it is something different. The watch as I mentioned has a rectangular shaped face and it has a white background. I really liked the layout of the numbers. There is a 12 and 6 on the face and the other numbers are represented by dashes. The face is really easy to read and it doesn't make too much of a loud noise when the watch is ticking, something that I am really fussy about.
The strap to the watch is a stainless steel bracelet. I had to have a couple of links removed when I first had it but it now sits very securely on my arm. The watch has a clasp that you need to undo and do up with and unlike other watches, it is not that fiddly to use.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this watch, it really is a classic yet modern looking one and it is really reliable. I wear this to work as well as of an evening so it is quite versatile. The watch is a great with being efficient and the fact I don't need to worry about the battery going is even better.
4 out of 5 from me on this one
