“ Brand: Dolce and Gabbana / Watch for: Women „
I had always wanted a Dolce & Gabbana watch and after dropping numerous hints to my boyfriend at the time, I eventually found one under the Christmas tree in a beautifully wrapped box.
When I unwrapped the present I was a little disappointed for a split second because it wasn't the one that I'd wanted but now I can't actually remember the exact watch I asked for because I like the C'est Chic ladies watch so much.
The watch itself came in a beautiful presentation box of which you have to slide off the lid in order to get to the watch. The watch will come inside a soft leather feel pouch bag with a draw string to close and open it. Inside will also be a little booklet stating the guarantee should anything go wrong with your new watch to give you piece of mind.
The first thing that I noticed about this watch is obviously the dazzling and sparkling crystals that link together to create the main body of the watch. The crystals are made out of mineral glass and they have been cut beautifully in order to catch the light.
Sometimes you can buy a piece of jewellery or a watch which sparkles insanely under the shop lighting, only for you to get your shiny new possession home and to find it completely lacking in sparkle. But I don't think that disappointment would follow with this watch. There are very few situations that I have been in when this little beauty hasn't been glittering away.
The watch face is square shaped with a silvery white background and it tells the time in an analogue format. There are no numbers on the watch face at all which I think at certain times can make it difficult to read the time quickly at a glance. The position of the three, six and nine is marked with a crystal while the position of the twelve is marked with the writing D&G. The watch has an hour hand and a minute hand but it doesn't have a second hand.
I wanted to put my new watch on immediately after luckily receiving it and it didn't take long to figure out how to do it up. You have to loop the shiny link through the hole and then bend it back on itself and click it shut. In all the time I've had the watch, it has only come undone twice on its own but that is still two times too many in my opinion. Luckily I was able to hear and feel it drop so I didn't lose it and it didn't get damaged on its fall.
The most obvious problem with this watch was that it was absolutely massive. I only have tiny wrists however I know a company needs to make the watch as big as possible so that it fits everyone. I took it to the jewellers and paid £10 to have sections removed and I was amazed at how much they took off in order to make it fit. I think the watch is worth half of its original value after all those sparkly sections had gone!
The watch is quite heavy on the wrist and some people may find it uncomfortable to wear all the time. Some people may also find this too in your face for every day use because it's not exactly subtle. I tend to wear this on nights out with friend, when I go for a meal or anywhere where I intend to make a bit of an extra effort.
The bracelet part of the watch is made out of Stainless Steel and it is 21 millimetres wide. The face of the watch including the surrounding crystals has a height of 3 cm and a width of 2 cm. On the side of the face of the watch, there is a little button which you can pull out and twist in order to adjust the time when the hour changes or when going on holiday.
Incidentally, if you should drop your watch in the pool on holidays, the watch is apparently waterproof up to a depth of 30 metres but you should probably avoid trying this out, just in case.
I'm not exactly sure how much my watch cost as I received it as a present but after doing a bit of research, I think it will have cost between £150 and £200 although you'll obviously get the watch for cheaper if you shop around, especially on websites such as Ebay or Amazon.
The watch is also available with a black watch face background which I probably would have preferred and I've also seen the same watch but in a gold colour instead of silver. I've had mine for a long time now and the battery is still going strong, there are no noticeably scratches on it and none of the crystals have come loose so it has been well made.
All in all, this is a beautiful and eye catching watch which you may prefer to wear for a special occasion or if you are completely addicted to glitter, then you may want to wear it all the time. Either way, it's timeless and gorgeous and is a really special watch.
I have to admit that when first looking to buy this watch earlier this year, I was somewhat wary as the reviews on Amazon for D&G stone set watches are a bit mixed, with some saying the stones are prone to falling out, and are not actually covered by the D&G warranty. So bear this in mind when you are buying it as if you jeweller offers you a stone set warranty, it might be a good idea to take it up.
That said, maybe those buyers were unlucky as I have had my Dolce & Gabbana C'est Chic in Silver (it is also available in a baby pink colour) for over six months now and it is good as new. It cost £180 from Amazon, and is my 'for best' watch (I have a cheaper Oasis watch for work and every day). You could wear this every day but it is SO sparkly that it might look ever so slightly overkill (I suppose it depends what you do as a job).
But wow, does it do bling well!! It zazzes up any outfit without looking tacky, it adds a bit of sparkle to any night out. All you need is a simple pair of earrings or a sparkly necklace and you're set.
The watch like all D&G watches comes in a presentation box which is a large cube and looks great as a gift, really posh! It would make a lovely gift, as any D&G watch would, in my opinion. They are such good quality, keep time well and are pretty, and well made without being too showy.
I highly recommend the D&G brand and their range of watches of which I have bought many. 5/5 for me!
As you will see from previous reviews I do have several watches, one of which is my main everyday watch along with a couple of others I occasionally wear. I bought the Dolce & Gabbana C'est Chic watch a few years ago now, being into all things pink and pretty I was attracted my the sparkly stones which cover the watch, and the fact that you could get it in pink was even better. Despite hardly ever wearing now I do still have it, however it is not the most practical watch in the world.
The D&G C'est Chic watch has what I would call quite a square appearance. The strap is a bracelet style strap, the version I have has a small hinge on the back of the bracelet strap, this opens out to make the watch easier to slip on and off your wrist. The strap measures about 8" in circumference, the clip has a small hinge which is released by pressing the 2 tabs on either side, the clip opens in the middle adding an extra 2.5" onto the size of the bracelet, this makes the watch that little bit easier to get over your hand. The entire this is covered with small pale pink crystals, apart from the fastening clip which is shiny silver in colour with the words D&G Dolce and Gabbana written in non shiny silver on one side of the clip.
The watch face sits in the middle of the strap, this too is surrounded by the same pale pink stones and a very thin shiny stainless steel boarder. The face itself is approximately 0.5" wide and 1" in length, it is shiny pink with D&G in silver letting at the top. The watch face has no numbers on it at all and shiny silver hands, the fact that there are no numbers on the watch can make it a little hard to tell the time with sometimes, especially if you glance at the watch quickly. Personally I did not find this too much of a problem but some people may not get on with a watch of this style.
The D&G C'est Chic watch is not waterproof, it is classed as bath water resistant (written in small lettering on the back of the watch face) or I have read that it is 'splash proof', the watch would probably be ok if you were to say wash up wearing it and splashed water onto it, however I have never worn mine near water so am unsure as to how much water it could actually cope with. The watch comes across as being quite delicate rather than robust so personally I do not think it would withstand very much water at all.
As I have said the D&G C'est Chic watch is quite delicate and fragile, The whole bracelet strap is made of rows of the pale pink crystals set in small silver holders, all linked together (all silver metal parts are made from stainless steel) personally I think that this makes the watch strap easy to break, With my D&G watch I find that some of the links do come apart, I have been able to push the links that have come apart back together, however this has weakened them and the links which have come apart have continued to do so. Also I have already lost a couple of stones out of my strap, that is from only wearing the watch on nights out, I really do not think that this watch would be suitable for everyday use, if the watch was worn everyday I really do think that more stones would be lost and more links would come apart. So overall I would not say the D&G watch is particularly strong as an everyday watch.
So far my watch has kept very good time and I did not have to replace the battery for a very long time. Replacing the battery is quite simple, there are 4 very small screws on the back of the watch face which need to be removed before opening the battery compartment. You could do this yourself however personally I would recommend taking it to a jewellers to get the battery replaced as you do need a set of miniature screwdrivers to do this. I take mine to a local independent jewellers to get the battery replaced and it cost me as little as £3 to £4 which personally is worth the money to ensure the watch is taken apart and reassembled correctly.
I bought my D&G C'est Chic watch from a local independent jewellers however this watch can also be bought at many other jewellers and outlets including John Lewis as well as many online stores. The D&G watch had not been released long when I bought mine and it cost about £175.00 , however the price does depend on where you buy the product from. The C'est Chic is now £250.00 from the official D&G shops and websites.
I would say that this watch is probably more suited to the younger customer, and more suited to a night out rather than everyday use as I have mentioned previously. However I would recommend this watch as it is a very pretty watch which would brighten up any outfit, the sparkly bracelet strap really would make a statement. Despite being quite delicate, as long as you treat the watch with care then you can keep it in good condition. I have admittedly lost a stone out of mine, however I have had the watch several years now and it has had a lot of use. So overally I think the D&G C'est Chic watch is an excellent watch for a night out and is something a little bit different to everyday jewellery.
The Dolce & Gabbana C'est Chic ladies watch is so lovely. Its really sparkly and pretty when in wear and looks really rather posh! We bought this as a graduation gift for a family member, who already had the gold coloured version of the very same watch and complained bitterly that they couldn't wear it when wearing silver jewellery as it 'wouldn't go'. With that in mid we decided that the same watch but in silver would be the perfect gift.
Honestly if you haven't seen the watch it might be hard to imagine just how gorgeous it is. I tried it on for size myself when we were buying it and it looks a real cracker when you are wearing it. In fact if it wasn't for the fact that I have several watches already, I might have been tempted to get two that day!
Dolce & Gabbana are a very desirable brand and so their products are not very cheap to buy. But we did find that prices for this watch varied enormously from store to store and also online. We found that we could have paid anything from £169.99 upwards to £299.99 for this very same watch, which to me is an amazing difference in price.
I think that you really do need to shop around if you want to buy this watch, as there are massive savings to be made and as its been around for a while it ought to be easy to pick up for a little less. We bought ours for £169.99 in a factory shopping outlet, where prices for all sorts of designer branded goodies were much cheaper than on the high street.
The watch itself has a really nice quality quartz movement and having asked its owner if the watch has been reliable, she told us it has kept fabulous time, so no excuses at all to be late! The watch has an analogue display and shows both hours and minutes.
The rectangular face of the watch is very simple with small diamante highlights, which this watch delights in. The face is protected by mineral glass. The D&G logo sits at the top of the watch face in place of the number 12. The beautiful diamante incrusted watch strap forms part of the watch itself, as in its not something that you would be able to change or alter easily as it forms a bracelet around your wrist. Thats means it doesn't have to be worn tightly if you find that an irritation, but you can have the links altered if need be.
The clasp that comes with the watch makes a nice sturdy and safe closure so that you won't feel worried about losing the watch, but you may be able to have a safety chain fitted if you want to. This could be a little difficult due to the way the strap is made, but may be possible if the safety chain was attached to the thin pieces close to the clasp. Although we didn't look into to it ourselves.
The clasp is easy to close and just hooks through a small open rectangular bar to lock into place with ease. The D&G logo is present on the clasp and makes it look a little bit special as its otherwise very simple when compared to the rest of the watch.
The watch does come with a full 2 year D&G watch guarantee and this has not been needed so far with either the watch we bought or the original watch.
This watch is a diamante dream! The person we bought it for has a liking for all things sparkly and I know she has been really pleased with the amount of 'bling' the watch has. I do know that there was a lost diamante in the gold watch that she also has, but so far the silver coloured one we bought has been fine.
The linking bands of the bracelet is made of stainless steel and the watch is water resistant up to 50m, although I don't think for one minute this watch ought to go any where near water as its far too beautiful to risk the diamantes etc being in contact with water.
Over all I think the watch is lovely as does the watches owner, after all she liked it so much to have one in each colour! I have to give it a 5 star rating as the watch has been a joy for its owner to have, admire and be admired.
I bought this watch around 2 years ago from Goldsmiths for £279 in yellow gold. The first time I saw this watch sparkling in the store window I knew I had to have it, the watch has an elegant classically styled gold-tone bracelet and case finished and set with diamante crystals throughout. It is quite heavy but considering the amount of materials that have been used this is quite understandable, despite feeling heavy while its on your wrist its not noticable.
Before i forget, when i purchased this watch i was offered a stone guard protection which i took for 5 years at a cost of £47. Im so glad i took this cover, as lovely as the watch is its been in and out of goldsmiths having its stones replaced.
The clasp is very easy to clip on and off.
The watch face on the gold tone watch is like a mother of pearl effect, the shine sets the stones off well, the silver tone watch has 2 styles, a white face and a black face. Both very stunning.
All in all despite the problem with the stones i still love this watch, it brings a real touch of class to any outfit both day and night ware. I would recommend anyone thinking of purchasing this watch to invest in the extra cover its well worth it.
Brought this for my ex girlfriend,it was priced at £199.99.As you would expect with d&g it is a great quality product it feels very rigid and sturdy. The watch face is a tad small in my opinion but the watch was not for me.It is an extremely showy watch and seemed to attract alot of attention wherever we went.Adjusting the size had to be done in the shop where i purchased it,most places dont charge for this service if you have purchased the watch from them, but otherwise there will be a charge depending on which retailers you use the price varies.
It looks more like a bracelet then a watch from a side angle do all of the cyrstals that take up the whole strap. It worked perfectly fine and did not lose time.It is a perfect present for women who like crystals and that whole blingy look. The strap material in which the cyrstals were encased was made of stainless steel.
It has a water resistance of 30m,a steel coloured dial.It is a Stainless steel Swarovski crystal set bracelet with the rectangular face enclosed. It came with a 2 year d&g guarantee which covered mechanical failures but not the strap,so if crystald become disloged and fall out the basic warranty will not cover this.It also came in a very presentable chrome d&g box.It is the perfect gift for women who love showy jewellery. But i would also reccomend getting extra warranty to cover the bracelet, this cost me £14.99 extra for 2 yearsof cover.
