“ Brand: Emporio Armani / Watch for: Men / Type: Classic „
Now before I start the review I should probably point out that I love watches - I unfortunately don't have the money to buy the watches I would like to but it is my dream to one day own a proper 'time piece'. The Armani watch I am reviewing now is by no means a classic which I will hand down through the generations but it is a perfect every day watch, which (I believe) looks very smart.
The Emporio Armani is a stainless steel watch, with a rectangular face sitting on a standard length band. The band itself is very sturdy and, at 19mm wide, sits very comfortably on my average sized male wrists - if you are looking to make an impression it can be polished up to a very impressive shine! It is fastened by a standard fold over clasp which, when extended, is between 2-3 inches long but when fastened leaves a small steel rectangle with an engraving of the famous Armani logo on it, with the remainder of the clasp folding under the band. It weighs in at 499g (info taken from Amazon) which I find to be a perfect weight - it's not heavy enough to make you constantly aware of it's presence but has enough weight to feel like a quality piece.
As previously mentioned this is a stainless steel, so is silver-ish in colour and can be buffed to a lovely shine if, like me, you are inclined to polish it! The watch face is rectangular in shape has a stainless steel frame which contains an off-white background with 12 bold markings indicating the hours and 4 smaller markings in between these showing the minutes - these are all in black. The top (12) marking has been replaced by the Armani logo and the words Emporio Armani are written in small letters underneath it. The standard hour, minute and second hands are pinned in the middle and rotate to show the time - these are in black, with the middle of the hour and minute hands being white as they glow in the dark. A small box above the 6 marking provides the date.
On the right hand edge of the face is a dial, which can be pulled out to change the time or date and engraved on the left edge are the Emporio Armani words and logo.
*Reliability and Price*
I bought this watch around 4 years ago and after setting the time once have never had cause to re-set it, excluding changes to British Summer Time etc. Around 6 weeks ago I had to have the battery changed for the 1st time and this only cost me £5. I believe I paid around £250 at the time for it in a sale but I'm fairly certain it could be found cheaper nowadays, given that I have worn it almost every working day since I bought it, it is still in very good condition with just a small scratch on one of the sides.
*Overall Impression and Recommendation*
I really like this watch, I paid what was for me a lot of money for it 4 or 5 years ago and it really has been excellent value for money - I have worn it almost every day, only changed the battery once, the time keeping is impeccable and it looks very smart! If you are looking for a good watch, which will catch people's eye but also be reliable and not cost the Earth I would have no hesitation recommending this one to you, a definite 10/10.
