      A beautiful watch from Guess

Whilst I own a couple of run of the mill watches that I alternate wearing for work, I had nothing suitable for evening wear. I would describe myself as a savvy shopper so decided to see what was available from Goldsmiths, an upmarket brand of jeweller who is in partnership with Tesco Clubcard. I was very fortunate as at the time I decided to convert my Clubcard vouchers I received four times their face value in Goldsmiths vouchers and as a result, I made a purchase of a designer brand namely Guess.

One of the cheaper watches that I own has a huge face, which makes a statement, but for my special occasion watch I required something discreet yet eye-catching. I also wanted my watch to co-ordinate with my Pandora bracelet, which I wear on the opposite wrist. Whilst visiting my local Goldsmiths store it was this particular watch that initially caught my eager eye due to its sparkle, which was considerably intensified with the store's powerful lighting system.

The strap of the watch measures approximately 8mm in width and has been made from a series of shiny stainless steel links. When I tried the watch on in store I found it too big and as a result, the sales assistant effortlessly removed a few links by simply unclipping them. The last but one link displays the neat etched lettering of the designer brand, so it you wish to retain this any excess links would need to be removed from the opposite side of the strap.

I'm not a fan of chunky straps as they can offer a masculine appearance to a watch, which I find unfavourable as I prefer feminine and petite. I find this design very appealing, particularly as within approximately two and a half centimetres of the watch face the links taper into narrow sections; both of which are encrusted in sparkling diamantes that give the illusion of diamonds. The appearance is distinctive with its contemporary appearance with the watch face offering an oblong shape with slight curves, which are adorned with a row of sparkling stones to match the upper section of the strap design.

The watch face measures approximately 12mm in width and 20mm in length and offers a pearly white display with silver markings to depict the hours of twelve, three, six and nine with the designer name being etched in small black lettering directly below the twelve o'clock indicator. Whilst the hour, minute and second hands can be described as small and petite they are extremely easy to read. The only difficulty I experienced with my watch is changing the time in respect of the beginning of British Summer time. I have long finger nails and attempting to obtain a firm grasp of the tiny crown was problematic as I simply couldn't correctly grasp, but I persevered. Thankfully, the watch is operated from a normal watch battery, so I do not have to worry about gripping the crown to wind the watch. I have never experienced any issues with the time being inaccurate and as a result, I have no excuses for being late!

The small leaflet that accompanied my watch informs me that it is water resistant when worn in the rain although this is not a claim that I am able to evidence as I ensure my watch is kept dry at all times. Whilst I purchased my watch for evening use and special occasions I have worn it to work many times and cannot report of any wear and tear such as scratches to the strap or glass face. I am of the opinion that the stainless steel straps have been polished as they do not attract my finger prints although this is not the case for the reverse of the face, which shows up every mark.

However, the watch is effortlessly cleaned with a lint free cloth and looks as good now as the day I first bought it. A huge positive for me with the watch is that there is no ticking sound, which is one of my biggest pet hates. I have the most powerful sense of hearing and have previously been known to be able to detect the ticking sound of a watch that sits firmly in its box within a drawer or the sound of the living room clock when I'm upstairs. I am absolutely thrilled with my purchase, particularly as I obtained it with converted Tesco Clubcard vouchers, so I didn't pay a penny of the £89 asking price.

The watch was beautifully presented on a pure white padded cushion, which was laid within a leather look ruffled drawstring bag adorned with a large silver heart displaying the Guess brand name. The watch is accompanied by a two year guarantee. This is such a beautiful watch and as a result it receives five stars from me together with a high recommendation.

I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading.
