I have never really been that fond of wearing watches myself but for Christmas I was brought an ICE watch and I must say it is most certainly worth the money its light and looks nice it is so comfortable you forget it's even there. I have a purple watch myself which comes in a lovely Lego shaped retro box.
Prices for the watches vary from just under £70-£230 which for some people seems like a lot of money but truth be told they are worth it. They are elegant for women and men and match several outfits. The bonus I find is there are waterproof and have the date on them as well.
The watches actually marketed in 2007 but have only started to be really noticed in the past year. There are 4 styles available which are Sport, Casual, Dress and fashion.
Watches are unisex and straps are either leather, plastic or rubber which means they can be worn for several occasions, they are also available in many different colours.
For people like me this price is perfect mine cost £71 its a lovely bright colour, easy to clean, waterproof and easy to wear. Definitely great for a gift and worth the money! Even a nice little treat for yourself.
I stopped wearing a watch many years ago when mobile phones became common place, it was easy to see what time it was simply by looking at the screen of a phone than strapping something to my wrist and in all honesty I can't say I particularly missed wearing one at all. Even though I had no desire to ever own another watch again I would still receive them as gifts every now and then and although I made every effort to wear what I'd been given for me it was only a matter of time before I'd end up forgetting to put it on and inevitably would end up being tidied away into a draw never to see the light of day again.
For the past 3 years I've taken part in Amazon's Black Friday sales that run on the site in November, usually I end up spending a fortune on items that I didn't know I wanted until offered at a reduced price and I can admit to being well and truly taken in by the appeal of grabbing a "bargain". The Ice watch shown in Dooyoo's picture here was one item that was offered in last Novembers sale and despite myself and my attitude towards watches in general I simply had to have one, I was taken by the colour of the watch, its design and the fact that it had a leather strap rather than the 'jelly' ones that Ice watches usually have when they're offered for sale in high street stores and even though I didn't really believe Amazon's claim that the RRP of the watch was over £150 I still considered it to be a bargain when I managed to grab one for £66.00
£66.00 for a watch from someone who doesn't usually like watches might seem a bit on the bonkers side but I loved it from the moment I saw it and even though I would never usually dream of wearing anything white in colour I still knew I wanted one. The Ice brand has been rather popular for a few years now and I had noticed numerous different coloured ones for sale in many high street jewellers, I liked the look of the faces but didn't really care for the plasticy, jelly straps that usually accompanied the watch and had no real desire to own one even though I could see how they might appeal to other people. Buying my own therefore came as a surprise but there are times when you see something that you know you must have and that's what happened with me and my Ice watch and a few days after purchasing mine it was delivered by amazon.
The watch comes very nicely packaged in an oversized presentation box and the watch itself is housed in a white coloured plastic 'brick' box. The box looks like a big piece of Lego and the watch itself is firmly held in place but is easy to remove. You are given a warranty/guarantee booklet with the watch and an easy to read instruction pamphlet explaining the various functions although it's quite obvious what everything is for and I didn't need to consult mine at all. Both the face and strap are bright white in colour, there are orange coloured highlights on the watch face and the second hand is orange coloured too. The Ice logo is clearly displayed on the face of the watch and the numbers and hour/minute hands are silver. There is a moveable outer bezel that can be used for a timer and there is a stopwatch function on the watch as well as a clearly displayed date 'window'. It's a battery run analogue watch with a stainless steel case back which is firmly fixed to a thick leather strap and overall I would describe the watch and strap as being chunky.
It has quite a high profile when worn on a wrist, the watch itself is raised and you do have to be careful not to knock it when first getting used to it as it can get in the way at times. It's very comfortable to wear though and although very chunky in design it's not too heavy and once you've got used to how it feels on your wrist you pretty much forget that it's there. I've owned mine for just under a couple of months now and still wear it every day and even though I take it off to go to bed at night it's something that I enjoy wearing as I do like how it looks. It's quite fashionable I suppose but it's not a cheap fashion watch, it has kept excellent time since I've owned mine and I do think it's a very reliable timepiece as well as being something funky to wear. The leather strap in particular is very comfortable against the skin of my wrist and the clasp is strong and reliable, you can tell from just looking at the watch that quality materials have been used in its manufacture I think and for someone like me who was pretty much ambivalent towards watches it is a much prized possession.
Looking around for prices it would appear that amazon's original RRP of £150 is somewhat ambitious although the watch does to tend to retail for over £100 from some online shops, I've never seen it anywhere for the price I paid though so I do consider my £66 to be a bargain. It's sold as a unisex watch although I do think it's probably more masculine than feminine and a lady would need quite big wrists to get away with wearing this particular model. I don't think it's particularly 'young' in its design and whilst the Ice brand might be more targeted at the younger generation I do think that it's quite universal in appeal and whilst mine might not be the most practical of coloured watches to wear it's maintained its bright whiteness in the time I've been wearing it for and anyway, how often do your wrists come into contact with something that's going to get them dirty.
All in all I love my Ice watch and for an impulse buy it's been one of my better purchases, for anyone looking for a well made, reliable and stylish watch then I'd definitely recommend the Ice brand in general and if White isn't a colour for you there are plenty of other options to chose from. 5 stars as a rating, thanks for reading my review.
