... thing you notice is that this watch is heavy, noticeably heavier than any other watch I have owned. I rapidly got used to the weight and now register it as a reassuring presence on my wrist. The case and the bracelet are in stainless steel and the glass is highly resistant sapphire glass. I've had the watch for three years now and it has no visible scratches anywhere. The face is also a digital display for the alternative functions. They are: Day and date (in a choice of languages) Dual time zone display Stop w...more

Junghans Mega Solar 018/1503 The watch is Wonderful I purchased back in 1995 The ceramic case is without a scratch, timekeeping faultless, sent for service via Jon Vincent a few years ago, but just keeps going not visiting jewellers for expensive replacement batteries. Technical wonder, this model no longer available, but they still make similar versions

It's over seven years since there was a Junghans watch review posted, so it's time for an update. My Junghans has the snappy name of a Mega Alarm Chrono. It is a radio controlled analogue watch with a sweep second hand and a digital display. Like other Junghans radio controlled watches this one picks up a signal from a transmitter in Germany every night and automatically puts itself right, so it is in practice never so much as a second out. I've tried it in France and northern Spain, where it picked up a signal without problem and in Norway and southern Spain where it did not. Even so, there was no noticeable error at the end of a week or ten days away ...  Read the complete review

The batteries give up the ghost (even years seem such a short time here), the straps fall to bits or they just become plain old hat. Indeed it’s normally easier to replace a watch altogether in this ‘disposable’ age. A few years ago though, I managed to fulfill one ambition- to get myself a decent watch! My experience with watches however made me realise that you don’t necessarily ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Junghans - watches for engineers (329 words)

Finding the perfect watch has been something of quest for me for several years now. Over the last ten years, I've tried databank watches, digitals, and analogues with a digital display. I've finally found the perfect watch... well, at least for now. Until recently, I worked in the broadcast industry, where accurate timepieces are a must. Junghans has a name within that industry for accuracy and quality, through their use of radio control technology. To achieve this, the watch contains a radio receiver (tuned to the DCF 77KHz transmitter) that regularly checks for the current time. Added to this, the Junghans solar range gets their power from the sun. ...  Read the complete review
