A fantastic watch - what more can I say?!

Everyone needs a watch and there are several brands to choose from, but one of my favourites is the Oasis brand. Oasis are perhaps best known for their clothes stores, but their watches are popular particularly among young women, and are widely available in other stores. They are reasonably priced and come in all sorts of styles. All watches come in attractive floral gift boxes.

If you've read my review of another Oasis watch, you'll know that I wore it for over three years near-constantly and loved it, so I was convinced that the brand was a good one. I actually bought this watch on an impulse. I was about to buy my new iPod Shuffle from Tesco Direct, and noticed that if I spent over £50 I could get 500 Clubcard points. Looking around for something else to buy, I spied this watch for £12 which would take me just over the £50 mark. I realised that as my previous watch was going slightly rusty, I could do with a new 'everyday' watch, and felt that the simple design would suit my needs. The picture shown accurately depicts the watch, which is a splashproof (so don't wear it to go swimming!), quartz analogue watch with a black leather strap and a large round black dial, accented with silver-coloured metal and a stainless steel back.

      ***Price and Availability***

Oasis watches are available from many different stores, including Oasis itself, Argos, asos.com and Amazon, but I've noticed that particular designs are often only available in a particular place. I've searched around, but have only ever seen this particular watch online at Tesco Direct where I bought it. The watch only cost £12, which I thought was a bargain as most Oasis watches are at least £25.

      ***My Experience***

I received this watch in the post and it came in the usual Oasis watch box: cream with black flowers, an elegant and simple design. Inside, I was very pleased with my first impressions of the watch. It looks classy and expensive, worth much more than £12! The strap is thin patent leather, which is shiny and there are 7 different holes for the buckle. The face is quite large compared to the rest of the watch - in fact when I wear it, the face is almost as wide as my wrist, which is quite thin! The silver-coloured buckle fastens easily. I think this watch would fit most wrist sizes as it has so many buckle holes - I sometimes have problems getting watches to fit my thin wrists, but have had no problems with this one. I wear it on the third hole so there is plenty of room to fit a larger wrist.

The face of the watch is surrounded by a metal border, which is shiny (and possibly stainless steel, like the back, although I can't tell this for certain). The hands are also silver (the two larger hands have black on the inside) and the watch carries the Oasis logo, again in silver coloured metal. Only four numbers are displayed on the watch face, 12, 3, 6 and 9, and these have been pressed into the watch face. I should say at this point that the numbers are very hard to see, much harder than the picture shows, though this isn't a problem for me as most fashion watches don't have numbers at all. It might bother someone with bad eyesight, though.

I've been wearing this watch almost every day for a few months now and haven't had any bad experiences. The watch's simple but slightly unusual design goes with most of my outfits, remains securely on my wrist and tells the time accurately. I've had several compliments from people who are always surprised when I tell them the watch only cost £12 - perhaps I should be keeping this part quiet! My mam also saw the watch and wanted one for herself!

The watch itself looks as good as new, except for the strap which is slightly creased - this always happens with buckle watches though and the strap seems sturdy enough to cope with this for a good while yet. I can't comment directly on the watch's longevity yet, as if I waited a few years it will probably no longer be available, and a review would be pointless!

If you like the look of this watch, it is still available online from Tesco Direct for £12, though you will have to pay for delivery to home unless you throw some other things in with your order! A message on the product page states "Last chance to buy", so the watch may have been discontinued, but it's been saying "Last chance to buy" for at least four months now!

Overall, I thoroughly recommend this watch and would happily purchase another Oasis watch. It's a reliable brand which makes lovely watches at reasonable prices, and this particular watch is even better value than most.
