Advantages: comfortable rubber strap, reliable, clearly marked face so it's quick and easy to see the time
Disadvantages: colour has worn off bezel, detailing looks cheap
I hate to be without a watch and always feel lost if I don't know the time. I'm one of those people that likes planning and having a reliable timepiece is essential. I bought this watch to replace my last one as it broke unexpecedly, and I didn't have the spare cash to splash on on something decent. This Spirit Ladies watch cost me just £4.73 from www.amazon.co.uk.
As for the basics, this is a quartz watch with a basic dial and hands to show you the time. I prefer a proper clock face with hands, and I hate watches without numbers on as it wastes my time guessing what position the hands are really in. This watch features gold dots marking each of the hour positions, and there are little lines in position of the the minutes so it is very easy to read the time even with just a quick glance. There is an hour, minute, and second hand which also make it useful for accurate timing.
This is a ladies design watch, and I have quite slim wrists so need to wear the strap fastened quite tightly with a lot of strap left as excess. The loose end is tucked in neatly with two little loops to keep it in place, although these can sometimes slip or stretch out of place and need to be readjusted. The strap is made of a white rubber material and this feels a bit flimsy to begin with, but after I've been wearing it for a while now I've got used to how it feels when beng worn. The bexel, face detailing and buckle are all a gold colour, which has a slightly rose tone to it. Over the past few months the colouring on the bezel has worn away revealing a silver tone underneath which looks a bit odd as it contrasts so much. None of the other parts have been affected. I like this watch as it has quite a sporty, modern look to it, and the style is quite oversized for a ladies watch. It's quite a bold looking piece but it does seem to work well with my outfits for most occasions. If I'm going somewhere special then I wouldn't use this, but it's great for everyday use and is comfortable to wear. The only problem I have is that if you look closely you can really tell how cheap it is. For example, the dials on the watch face are fake and simply for decoration rather than any real purpose.
I wear my watch constantly. I keep it on all day round I did wonder if choosing a white coloured watch would be a bad idea. However, it's actually very easy to keep looking clean. The white rubber does mark and it shows up bits of dirt very clearly. Because it's rubber it cleans up good as new with just a quick rub over using a damp cloth. Aside from the colour coming off the bezel the watch has stayed in a very good condition so far while I've been using it.
As for time keeping, I have had absolutely no problems with it at all. It keeps time perfectly, and as this is the purpose of wearing a watch, it does its job well. You can adjust the watch forwards or backwards by releasing the large pin on the side of the face, and winding it to the desired time, which happens during the beginning and end of Daylight Saving Time. This is effective and the pin stays in place securely in the meantime, it would be impossible to accidentally change the time without intending to and purposely pulling the pin out. It's also quite large so easy to get a good grip on to move it when needed.
Overall, I think this is a very reasonable watch. For less than £5 it works perfectly and is a good choice if you like a bold looking watch.
Summary: Not bad for less than £5!
