Whenever I hear the word "Thong" I automatically think of underwear, I do hope I'm not the only one with a dirty mind!! "Spirit Ladies Brown Multi Thong watch", is one hell of a mouthful to say, plus it doesn't make the watch sound particularly attractive either. However, I'll continue with my review and let you decide for yourselves.
Buying the watch
When I purchased this watch, sometime last year, I was able to have a very close look at it and try it on, I wasn't put under any pressure to buy it, I was allowed to take my time in deciding whether or not this watch was the right one for me. It happened to be among several watches I was looking at, and the sales assistant was really nice and helpful, she must have been thinking.... "just make your mind up already!".
If I was her I would have been thinking that, anyway I finally decided on this one, paid for it and left. I bought the watch from Argos for £14.99.
The watch itself
I have several different watches, it depends on where I'm going and what I'm wearing, as to which watch I choose to wear.
I bought this watch for casual everyday wear as it's just basically made up of thin leather strips in various shades of brown, which all fasten together into a solid piece of brown leather roughly about 2 and a half inches long which have holes placed down the middle for fastening the buckle. At the other end of the watch the brown leather strips are attached to a smaller piece of brown leather which also holds the buckle, which is silver in color.
In the very centre of the leather strips, is the actual watch face itself, a stainless steel case, rectangular in shape, this holds the watch face in place which is a sort of metallic blue, very pretty color I might add, the hands and second hand are silver in color, the face only displays the 12, 3, 6 and 9 however these are merely silver strokes, not actual numbers. The word Spirit is displayed underneath the stroke which is in the place of the number 12 in silver lettering. The hands of the watch are controlled by a little silver wheel at the side of the face.
I've only ever had to change the time on the watch when BST begins and ends. I don't wind it up, so I guess there must be a battery inside, but to be honest I don't know as my watch has never stopped and given me any reason to have to fiddle with the hands since I first bought it and that was sometime last year.
I don't wear the watch all the time, but from time to time when I do wear it I find the strap way to big for my wrist, I have very skinny wrists and although I'm really fond of this watch, I feel it looks to bulky on me. I know I tried it on and everything but it was one of those situations where you really like something and decide your going to have it whether it looks right or not. I really do like the style of this watch, it reminds me of them leather wrist bands you can get and personally I think they look great. However over the months I've had the watch, I've noticed the leather strips have begun to fray somewhat and this has resulted in the watch looking a bit tatty.
If it fits
If you have decent size wrists and not wrists the same size as a small child then I'd recommend this watch totally, it does look good on and if your in to all these leather wrist bands and the like and you like that sort of look then I'd say go for it, the face of the watch is a very pretty color and although blue, whilst the strips of leather are brown, they still look nice together. I think you'd have to see it in the flesh to decide whether or not it was the watch for you. I was certainly attracted to it but since buying it I've had to make extra holes in the strap but this has only resulted in the watch looking even more bulky on me. I guess I should have gone for a child's watch instead, it might have fit me better.
Best place to buy
Amazon are currently selling these watches for £30.00 but if you are interested, I'd go to Argos where you can pick one up for £14.99
I'm giving this watch 4 stars because I really like it, but it really does look too big on me.
