I have been a big fan of the Swatch watches for quite some time now and have built up my collection selectively choosing models which I believe to fit in with my lifestyle and also budget. The Swatch 'Dark Phoenix' is a model I have owned for around 4 months now and I am becoming more familiar with its functions etc. each time I use it. Costing between £80-£105 (£105 from www.swatch.co.uk) it isn't one of the standard Swatch timepieces. I usually find myself spending between £30-£40 on Swatch watches, as most of their ranges fall within this pricerange. The swatch 'Dark Phoenix' is more than just a regular Swatch watch (if you can call swatch watches regular in any way!). The small chronograph dial on the watch is absolutely packed with detail. Each of the individual mini dials on the face of the clock is finished in equisite detail, the bezel also contains a lot of information. At first I just looked at this and easily got confused, but I am now much more aware of what (most) of these numbers mean. I love the jet black dial with the white and silver detail which really stands out. The Swatch branding is clear to see and proudly stamped directly underneath the '12'.
I think the price is obviously quite expensive, but Swatch watches never have been cheap. I think the fact that this is a Chronograph watch also makes it stand out in terms of price and the intricate detailing on the dial makes it that little bit more special and desirable. The watch also features a genuine leather strap, which is of a tan colour. I think this really contrasts well with the black dial and the silver surround. A black strap would have meant this watch not standing out as much for me, and the leather strap is of equally high quality, with a sturdy buckle. The date feature is also present as with a lot of Swatch watches. I believe the Swatch 'Dark Phoenix' to be just another example of Swatch's high quality and standards within the watchmaking industry. I will certainly be continuing to buy swatch timepieces and due to the styling of this watch I would say it looks more at home when worn with formal clothing.
