A cute watch from Swatch - Funny Dots LK262G
I used to wear watches a lot, there was always one around my wrist and I had several matching for different occasions. I soon stopped wearing them while travelling, Southeast Asia is just too hot for wearing an expensive watch and even a cheap one is not worth the discomfort caused by it. The great thing about travelling for a long term is that time is not as important as it is in "real life". Coming back to Europe and trying to juggle studies and a part-time job means that I have to be on time; a good, reliable watch is therefore indispensable.
My Funny Dots LK262G is my favourite watch and I do wear it a lot. Even though i am not a colour person when it comes to clothing I love colourful, bright and bold accessories. It is not really a watch you can wear for a really chic night out - it is much better suited for a casual day or a relaxed meeting with friends. The bright beads really stand out and give the watch a very cute appearance.
I bought the watch a year or so ago for around 40 pounds. The battery is still working fine and I never had any problems or complaints with this watch. I was a bit scared that the beads would loose colour after a while but nothing happened even though I wear it a lot and often walked around in the rain with it.
The dial is round with a sunbrushed design. The hours are indicated with different coloured dots and the hands are silver. I really like it when the hands are silver, really cannot stand the yellow-ish dots of the fluorescent materials. The case is around 2.5cm in diameter (that´s about 1.5 inch if I´m not mistaken). The band is a stainless steel metal strap which is closed with a clasp system. The clasp is quite strong and I can comfortable wear without fear of loosing my watch. The length of the strap is adjustable between roughly 15 cm and 18 cm.
The highlight of the watch is obviously the bright stainless steel band with the many multi coloured beads. Those have lovely colours as you can see in the picture. Because the colours are slightly metallic the watch does not look like a children's watch but looks actually quite modern and fits very well with many different styles.
Swatch watches are of great quality and usually come with a 2 year guarantee which (I think) excludes batteries. The Funny Dots watch is great for everyone who is looking for a fancy watch that is not something everyone has. It is a bit "louder" and bolder than other designs and goes very well with loads of different styles.
I certainly love my Funny Dots and can highly recommend it!
Thank you for reading and rating my review.
This is a rather feminine watch from Swatch and one that I wear rarely as it has the feel of being a bit frail, certainly it is not as robust as some of the watches they produce but it is a nice fun watch to wear in the evenings however it is not one I would wear a lot in the daytime.
The watch was launched in 2006 and had a metal bracelet and a plastic case, it is certainly a bright watch as the bracelet consists of bright coloured beads set in metallic pods that are all linked together, theier are eight different coloured beads on either side of the watch face and then a slender linked chain extends either side with a simple clasp system to secure the watch similar to most jewellry chains that you get.
The watch face is round and sunbrushed in colour with matching coloured dots replacing the numbers and the three hands are all silver in colour. The thing is with the beads it could look a bit tacky but the metallic colour somehow prevents it from looking cheap and the overall effect is a fun feminine looking watch.
I paid £36 for mine just over two years ago and the battery is still working. I have a few watches with this style of clasp system and while it looks faril so far I have never had a problem with any of them.
This is not a watch I wear a lot of the time, certainly I would not wear it on a daily basis but it does make a nice bright change and one that I do like although it is certainly not my favourite in my collection.
I have had this watch for over 2 years now & I really like it. It is unusual to look at and can be worn every day (as I do) or even just in the evening. I often have a problem with nickel allergies to many watches, but have had no allergic reactions with this one.
The only downsides to it are the elastic strap has had to be replaced twice, though the first time it was replaced free of charge as it was still under the 1 year guarantee. The 2nd time it snapped I had to pay just £6 for a new strap - it was sent back to Swatch by the jeweller where it was purchased. The clasp can also be tricky to fasten and undo, but once you get the hang of it, it isn't too bad.
Overall, I like this watch and think it is a stylish piece of jewellery as well as being practical and a very reasonable price. It is also waterproof for up to 30 metres.
The watch is gorgeous but have now been through 3 straps (and you have to pay for them at about £12 a pop - they're not inc in the guarantee).I wouldn't recommend it for this reason alone. The replacement straps will have cost me more than the damn watch if I get another. Think I'll just send it to Swatch Heaven.
I first saw this unusual watch when I went on holiday but didn't buy it at the time. I searched for it and found that John Lewis stocked it but it wasn't in stock so 2 months later I tracked down a local Swatch dealer by accident in a small jewellers.
This particular watch is now discontinued but the shop ordered it directly from Swatch for me - not sure if you can still do this on their Swatch's website.
After waiting a couple of weeks it arrived today... I paid £35.00 for this which I don't suppose is a lot of money for a watch.
It looks really pretty with the multi glass coloured beads set into the strap which is a shiny chrome. The watch face itself has multi coloured dots and silver fingers (including a second finger) and like most Swatches has a loud reassuring 'tick'.
The downside is actually fastening it. It is impossible do this alone and you need someone to help you. (I can see my colleagues getting fed up with me each morning....) The watch is on clear elastic that runs through the beads and at the end is a chain and lobster clasp which means than you need one hand to hold the chain and another to open and fasten the lobster clip! I also hope that the elastic holds out as it seems quite thin and frail.
All in all a nice fashionable watch for the money it's guaranteed for a year so should I have any problems I know it can go back to Swatch or the jewellers I bought it from.
