Advantages: Inexpensive, girly.
Disadvantages: Seems a bit fragile.
I brought the watch from Argos just before Christmas as a stocking filler for my 11 year old daughter, who was delighted to get a pink Tatty Teddy watch.
The watch comes in a nice Tatty Teddy presentation box which makes it easy to wrap.
I think the watch is marketed at young girls but it does fit comfortably around my wrist too as the strap measures 21.5cm long including the stainless steel buckle.
The face of the watch features a Tatty Teddy stood with his arms wide open as if preparing to give or receive a cuddle. The bear is grey on a pink background and stands out really well. The numbers on the face of the watch are in silver and despite being very small are quite easy to see. The watch has an hour, minute and second hand also in silver. The watch face is 2cm across including the bezel which claims to be stone set but is actually just patterned, highly polished stainless steel. It does look nice though; just don't expect any sparkly stones.
The watch strap is pink leather, it is very soft and moulds easily around the wrist causing no irritation. On the strap is a small heart charm, this is also patterned stainless steel and not stone-set. It is a nice touch and makes the watch look very girly. The strap is very easy to fasten and stays nice and secure. The strap is wearing well but I do think that the pink will start to rub off if the watch had heavy wear.
The watch movement is quartz analogue and is battery powered. To set the time just pull out the small knob on the right hand side and turn it clockwise till the hands are at the correct time, then push the knob back in and you are all set.
Like all 11 year olds my daughter was thrilled to bits to receive this as a stocking filler and wore it non stop for a few weeks, now the novelty has worn off I had to recover it from the bottom of the toy box to review it. I am glad the watch did not cost me much; I think paid £9.99 from Argos before Christmas. I have found a blue version of the watch on Amazon.co.uk for £16.14 and a white version in HSamuel for £19.99.
In conclusion I think this is a nice enough watch as a gift for a young girl or someone who is a Tatty Teddy fan but I don't expect it to be hard wearing as it feels quite delicate when I am handling it.
The watch is currently selling on amazon.co.uk for £13.95 with free delivery.
Thank you for reading.
