Advantages: Quite subtle for a childs watch, excellent price, well made

Disadvantages: Had to put extra holes in

Time has been an important aspect at home over the last few months as my youngest daughter has started to show an interest in learning to tell the time, and my eldest has finally cracked it and can now fully tell the time. To mark such an occasion (!), for Christmas I thought it would be appropriate to give each of my girls a watch. My youngest received her first watch, while my eldest received this Tatty Teddy watch to replace her more 'babyish' first watch.

I wanted a watch that wasn't too expensive as my daughter has a nasty habit of 'losing' things, so I was happy to find this Tatty Teddy watch in Argos for just under £10. She is getting to an age where she has started to take an interest in the Tatty Teddy range so I was happy with this choice, even if it had been led mainly by the price.

Coming in a nice presentation box, it does make a lovely gift and seemed a lot more special than something that £10 could buy. For her, you would have thought I had bought her a Tag Heuer and she was over the moon with it!

Measuring around 21cm, it could actually fit on an adults wrist, and my husband had to put an extra few holes in the strap to allow it to fit her. This is something that I normally have to do in my own watches though so I don't think this is a design flaw, more just our skinny little wrists!

The watch itself is quite subtle which I like. Usually I find that children's watches tend to have whichever endorsement plastered over every single bit of the watch including the strap, but this watch is much more subtle and 'grown up'. She really felt a big girl on Christmas Day when she received the watch, despite only actually being 6! The face of the watch has (as you would expect) a Tatty Teddy on a pink background and numbers on the face. The pink leather strap was a little tricky at first for her to manage to put on herself but after persevering and wearing the leather in a little, she can now manage to fasten the strap by herself. Something I was quite impressed with - I sometimes struggle to fasten my own watch!

The watch has minutes and hours and a seconds hand which was a novelty to her for an alarming amount of time! I can now show her how much time she is wasting when she is eating slowly, talking when she should be doing homework, dawdling.... (you get the idea!). The watch also has a nice little love heart charm which is fastened to the strap, a nice detail that my daughter loves.

All in all, a pretty decent watch for a child. It seems well made and the price can't be grumbled at at all.
