A watch perfectly designed for extreme sports

      ~*~ The Company ~*~

The story for Timex began 156 years ago in the United States when the brass manufacturer Benedict & Burnham established the Waterbury Clock Company to manufacture clocks using brass wheels and gears.
Today its successor, Timex Group USA, Inc. is the only remaining watch company in the region. The Timex Group B.V., a Dutch holding company, is the corporate parent of several watch making companies around the globe including Timex Group USA, Inc.

The Timex Corporation is one of the forerunners in watch manufacturing. The Timex Group use ergonomics in the way they design their watches e.g. Durability for sports time pieces, fob watches for nursing care.
Using innovation & traditional craftsmanship, Timex show they have an excellent awareness on consumer needs. The Company's ethos on continuing innovative in design, performance & durability has resulted in the Timex Group having sites in more than 80 countries around the world.

~*~ The 'Expedition' Timex range ~ Good enough for Conrad Anker, good enough for me! ~*~

Conrad Anker is an American mountaineer and author. He has made it his forte in climbing the most challenging terrain from Alaska and Antarctica to the colossal peaks of the Himalaya. Conrad Anker is the brand ambassador for Timex!

The range of Timex Expedition watches as worn by such extreme adventurists such as Conrad Anker speaks volumes regarding its durability & weather-proof design.

~*~ The product under review ~*~

My son is fast becoming a sports fanatic, biking and squash being his more relaxed ventures! I felt that as much as I want to support his pursuits, having to replace his watches was becoming a little too expensive. The ideal choice is to have three separate watches; casual, dress & sport-ware.

After a little 'clicking' on-line, I came across this very affordable high functioning watch. The casing is matte metal which sets off the watch's classic white round face stylishly, case diameter is 38 mm. The watch has a durable buckle clasp set on a mahogany leather band. I feel that the choice of this leather band over a bracelet has advantages such as being more adjustable for a better fit. Also, softer against the skin making the band more comfortable to wear. Natural substance ensures a breathable band. And is far easier and affordable to replace.

The watch has a date calendar, Indiglo night light and luminescent hands, brilliant for camping trips & trekking. The watch is powered by analog-quartz movement {quartz mechanism using an electronic oscillator regulated by a quartz crystal , the crystal oscillator creates a signal with very precise frequency making this time peace exceptionally accurate.

This watch is water resistant up to 165 feet, not that my son intends to swim that deep...I hope! The watch comes with a year's manufacturer's warranty, and has a 10 year battery life.

The watch has been through its paces over the last few months and although its cover is hard-wearing, after a very productive summer, it has suffered some cosmetic scratches but remains easy-to-read.

The normal price for this watch is around £25 but I obtained it for £10 by ordering it from a site based in America. It is worth clicking through the on-line search engines for a bargain. But even at £25, this watch is worth every penny.
