Now, although the product name states that it is a kids watch, its not just for them.
I bought my first 'kids' watch when I was looking for an analogue watch, with easy to read numbers. I couldn't be dealing with those watches that have Roman numerals or just have 12, 3, 6 and 9. I wanted a watch that just needed a glance to be able to tell the time. I chose the ladybird one.
There are so many different designs to choose from I can't possibly name them all. There are some with flowers on, lightning bolts (my current one), lizards, dinosaurs, sport balls, cars and some with just plain bright colours.
Each watch has all of the numbers written largely, clearly and in a colour that stands out from the background. Timex is written on the face but is very inconspicuous so does not ruin the design. Between each number are small markers, making it easier to tell the time to the exact minute. The watches also have a silver knob, which needs pulling out to set the time. This can be quite stiff and almost impossible to get out without nails so often I have to use my teeth! This may be a problem if children have this watch and need to adjust the time themselves. Also, if the adjuster comes out accidently, or if it is left out the time stops, staying on the time until pushed back in.
There is also a second hand that is related to the theme of the watch. For example, the lightning watch has a yellow bolt as the second hand and the lizard watch has a double ended second hand with a green lizard at one end and a yellow one at the other. This was my previous watch and I did have some problems deciding which lizard I would use as my second hand.
The strap is made from material ensuring the watch is comfortable and doesn't dig in and is elasticated so that can be taken off without having to adjust it. I find that I can't even feel my watch when its on my wrist and it doesn't catch my skin like metal ones do. Adjusting the watch is simple too, with a metal thing to thread the watch strap through. The watch strap will have a patterened design on it, making it eye catching and fun.
The watch is also waterproof up to 30m (although I haven't gone this far) so its not a big deal if accidently worn in the bath. I find it useful when going kayaking as it is not affected by the water.
This watch is good for children as the numbers are big and easy to read and the markers between the numbers show the exact time. Also, it will not rub and irritate their wrists. Personally I really like these watches, for both their comfort and readability. I also like the really eyecatching designs as I love bright colours. I think these watches would be suitable for anyone who likes comfort and colour.
I bought my first one of these watches from argos for £10 (which was the cheapest one their) and after I had lost that one I went back to argos for the same style. I then had the green lizard one and after again loosing it looked for one of these watches. My local branch does not stock them anymore so bought my lightning one from ebay for £6.40 (inc P+P) Bargin!. Other branches or watch shops may stock these.
