Ideal Standard Cleartap A5051AA Kitchemixer Tap
by edwardo blandwell
I thanks for the review, I noticed your remarks about the cost of replacement cartridges, yes they are pricey, i had given up finding cheap one's till i found a conversion kit, that let you use a Doulton ultracarb cartridge (lasts 2-3 times longer than the cleartap) with this tap instead. I have yet to find anyone else selling them just ... this company here: http://goo.gl/WkSXo
http://www.brookwater.co.uk water filtering mixertaps / cleartap water filtering kitchen / cleartap filter a963858nu to doulton ultracarb conversion kit.
they have a great step by step how to guide to install the replacement kit, you get everything in the kit, even the bracket for the wall, they include the following items in the kit:
ClearTap Filter(A963858NU) to Doulton UltraCarb Conversion Kit includes:
1 x HIP In-Line Pressure Filter Cartridge Housing
3/8in Pushfit, Bracket & Screws.
2 x 10mm to 6mm pushfit fittings to allow connection of the cleartap pipes to the Doulton HIP housing.
1 x Doulton UltraCard Filter cartridge. Ideal for changing to Doulton Filters.
the whole thing costs just £69.60 (fully inclusive) there is no extra charge like shipping etc.
So far the Doulton cartridge has lasted me just under nine months, when I called to order a second replacement cartridge (doulton) the person on the phone advised me that if I scrub the outside of the cartridge it lasts even longer! how great is that! Read the complete review |

Brita Aluna Water Filter
by RyanQ
When I moved into a student apartment, the water situation was not the best. So I decided to purchase a brita filtered jug to make sure I was not drinking anything I did not want to. This jug worked absolutely great, it was easy to fill up, and I know my water is clean now.
The only problem I have is that my lid does not secure ... very well, which stinks because the only place in my fridge that this jug fits is in the door, so I accidentally spill it a lot. Also when you try to get the last bit of water out, the small amount of water that does not go through the filter comes out with it, usually with the charcoal flakes from the filter out. Overall a good filtered jug but with just a few design flaws that effected me, but may not effect everyone Read the complete review |

Brita Classic Filter Cartridge
by scmk6868
I've used my Brita pitcher for years, and lately have had bad experiences with their filters. Their filters are pretty small and lightweight, and very easy to install in their units.
A filter has four holes on the bottom, filtering materials inside, and vents up top to take in the water to begin the process. The Filters have ... four notches in the back, and one is longer than the other to make it eay to know which side fits in the pitcher. The filters are generally universally compatible, but check the box before buying.
Before use, you have to soak the filter in cool water for 15 mintues. This conditions the filter and removes any particles from shipping. After soaking, just rinse it under water and you are good to go.
The problems that I have been having lately with my fiters is that I'm getting a lot of black particles in my water. At first, I thought it was just that specific filter, but after having the same experince with multiple filters, I figured something was wrong. I contacted Brita and they told me it was just filter particles, and everything was normal. I didn't know what was normal about black stuff in my water, but I was very upset. I've used their product for years, and never had the problem, but they were unable to help me.
There are other brands out there that purify water, and I would look at them before buying a brita. Read the complete review |
