Brita Marella Water Filter
by jjrose
I wasn't fussy about drinking tap water until I found white flaky pieces floating around in my glass of water one time. So, I decided it was time to invest in a jug of water filter. I didn't want an expensive one, just a simple and functional water filter. I saw this Brita Marella Water Filter on amazon for under £20.00 and decided to ... give this a go.
Brita is a brand with good reputation and has good customer reviews. On the amazon.co.uk websites, there are a variety of Brita Marella Water Filter with different colours available. The one I bought is red in colour, and it's cheaper than other colours (for reasons I don't know): I paid £11.49 for my water filter including postage so I thought it's pretty reasonable. It's easy to put together the pieces and the instructions are clear and to the point. First I rinse the filter jug with tap water and then put the cartridge in. The filter cartridge sits in nicely, not too tight nor loose, and it's easy to change from my experience. To let you know that the cartridge is in the correct place, there's a click once it is places correctly.
The water filter jug is very easy to use and it has a flip top so it's no hassle to fill it up with water. The capacity of the jug is 2.4 litres and the filter has 1.4 litres capacity. I only usually fill the jug to half its maximum capacity. My parents always make sure to fill it up with tap water for next person. To be honest, it's me who tends to forget to fill it water when I have a glass. The filtering time is pretty alright, but it can seem slow when you are in a rush. If the filter is filled to the max, then it takes about 2-3 minutes to be ready.
Is there any difference? Yes, I can easily taste the difference in the water now, it tastes cleaner and doesn't leave much metallic aftertaste. From my experience, it also improves the taste of home-made tea and coffee and they have smoother feel on the palate when I use the filtered water.
The filter cartridges need to be changed every 3-4 months in my household. They're not that cheap but I buy in bulks as they're more economical. A box of 6 filter cartridges costs around £20-25 depending on when you buy it. Personally, after drinking filtered water, I don't think my taste buds can agree with the taste of raw tap water.
Overall, Brita Marella Water Filter is a good water filter and does the job well. It's relatively cheap to buy and the cartridges are not that expensive either. I've been using this water filter for more than eight months and have used up two cartridges, it's been working as new so I would say the product is reliable and durable. I would recommend this Brita Marella Water Filter to anyone looking for a reliable water filter.

Brita Elemaris Meter
by BRoyJenkins
Where I go to uni, the water don't taste so great (at least not up to the Yorkshire Water standards that I've become accustomed to in my 22 years of life); with this first-world problem laying heavily on my mind, I endeavoured to buy a water filter.
I did the necessary research first to find a good product, but being someone ... fixated on the aesthetic qualities of technology, I found the Brita Elemeris filter to be one of the better-looking models; it has a very simple and modern design that I like. The device also comes with a meter that tells you when to replace the temp. filter, which is very helpful.
This was a good decision - my water is now much fresher and tastier as a result. Having it constantly refrigerated is the best way to keep it, though you will have to keep washing it to ensure it's clean. This isn't a problem as it's very simple to dismantle the product and you have the option to put it in the dishwasher, providing you're even lazier than I am.
The only really annoying thing is making space for it in your fridge - we share one fridge between six of us at Uni, so I don't always have room to store the filter. Make sure you do actually have the required space in the fridge beforehand. However, the size does mean that the jug stores a lot of water (3.5 litres; it is an 'XL' after all), which is an obvious bonus. Read the complete review |

Brita Marella Water Filter
by 1983home
I have worked on a trading estate for a number or years and at work we have to say that the water tastes disgusting, it is not even worthy of putting the water and boiling it in the kettle for our cups of tea and coffee let alone drinking it.
This is where I opted to purchase a filter jug to filter the water before boiling it ... and the one that I went for was the Brita Marella White Water Filter Jug. Brita was a brand that I have heard of for a number of years and there were various family members that already used Brita Jugs and recommend them to me.
The Brita Marella Water Filter Jug has a capacity to hold 2.4 litres of water, although only 1.4 litres of the water is filtered the other litre is in the filter chamber waiting to be filtered and ready to use. The lid of the filter jug has an electronic indicator on the top to remind you to change the filter cartridge in your jug. It is also slim enough to fit into your fridge door should you rather have chilled filtered water.
The jug takes Maxtra cartridge which is available from a wide variety of shops and it removes all of the lime scale, impurities and chlorine that are in the water. The lid of the just is especially designed to allow you fill the jug with ease from the tap with its flip lid.
When you take the jug out of the box it is easy to assemble, the longest part of the whole process is waiting for the jug to filter the water and empty it to filter again before you can use it.
When I change the cartridge I always take the jug home and put it into the dishwasher so it has a sterilized proper clean, the only part of the jug that cannot be put into the dishwasher is the lid as this has the electronic filter indicator in the top of it.
This jug cost £18.00 when I purchased it and I have now been looking around and have found this jug available for under £15, which I think makes it worth every penny. I would recommend that you shop around for the cartridges as they come in pack of 4 and eight, the last pack I picked up was on special on Amazon for under £30 and as each cartridge last approximately one month it is very cost effective for around £3.50 a cartridge and a daily cost of around 12p.
I cannot say a single bad word about the Brita Marella Water Filter, it does everything that I need at work, the only problem is that some people never fill it up after they have used it, which means I have to wait to filter the water before I can boil the kettle, which can be time consuming.
Overall this water filter is great and it allows me to be able to drink at work again without having to pull a face with every sip that I take. It I was to compare it against a bottle of water I would not be able to tell the difference between them now. Read the complete review |
